| I ended up waiting for mine last night. The D/L didn't take all that long over my slow ol' cable (I "only" get 10-12gb/s).
I fired it up for a quick test run last night. Despite a long list of "improvements" from Realflight, I didn't see anything Earth shattering. The writeup was going on about how they improved crashes.. baugh! They totally screwed up crashes! Now, on helis, the blades can go "into" the ground a bit before it registers as a crash, and even then, half the time it doesn't actually crash, it just does a weird chicken dance, without actually breaking anything. The crashes were far more realistic on G4.
My Trex v2 models won't fly at all now, but the Trex 600 flies like a champ. They changed my favorite old standby the Schweitzer. It's now sports a 3 bladed main, and doesn't fly as nice. I'm disapointed, but I wasn't flying it that much any more anyway.
There's a couple of new airplanes, and a couple of new helis.
As upgrades go, I'm glad I didn't have to pay for it. I guess I'll have to dig around harder to find some improvement that made the download worth the bandwidth it burned.
I'm sure many will be presenting some in-depth evaluations of it, but from my office chair viewpoint, it seems that this one did more harm than good. I'm almost tempted to just reload 4.0
Helicopters don't fly, they beat the air into submission. |
