I tried to dress up the pig every way you could, and it was still a pig. The esky carbon fiber frame, all metal stuff, GY401, 9257 tail servo, stock Bl motor, HS56HBs on cyclic, align esc. I could NEVER get this thing to track and the cheap frame would break in one place or another from even minor crashes. The the screws in the metal flybar holder would strip in most crashes. After the last crash I decided; no more cheap upgrades that don't last. Transferred all this stuff(except the metal; Only moved the swashplate and tail over) to a stock Belt plastic frame with a stock plastic head. Of course I installed my version of Doug's 'windshield washer hose' dampeners. Mine are donuts cut from plastic (pinkish) fuel hose 1/4" o.d. 1/8' i.d. and it makes this head stiffer than a minister's..... well let's just say it's pretty firm. The esky plastic covered wood blades that would never track with the upgrades actually track well with this mostly stock set-up. This heli is very light and feels as responsive as the trex. I didn't have the patience to wait for the HDX frame that shizack suggested but had not tried yet. It sounds good but I had several spare plastic framesets so I used one of them. I can't expect that much out of this thing, and when I look it like that I'm very pleased.

Bob, Where did you get the "pinkish" fuel line ? Mine is Black but I'd like to try something different. It is silicone or neoprene or rubber ??

Doug
I got mine at a local large hardware/home improvement store. I have been using it since the early Blade cp days when I read your thread. If you cannot find it, PM me and I'll send you a couple of feet. That should last you about 20 or 30 years. This stuff is plastic and just doesn't wear out. It is much harder and stiffer than even the special after market dampeners. I use it on the Blades, the Honey Bee King, and the Belt CP.

See now I have been thinking about doing the same thing but with my King. Right now I have a totally blinged out Xtreme framer that is just too heavy and I am not happy with it. I think I will do it when I can get some of the new HBK3 parts like the new tail and maybe the new frame. We will see.

A few years ago I did the bling thing with a blade cp, it got stupid after awhile add more weight, need more power need more metal. Can't add more power..... started dropping some of the heavy stuff and went back to a totally stock heli except for the DD tail and it was perfect again.
My therory after that is if a heli needs alot of modifications to fly you bought the wrong heli for you...

Tom..... No "D" flying....

I agree Slider, It's the ole--- If I just had this upgrade or that upgrade- It will fly GREAT They always leave the pilot out of the equation There are times where upgrades are pretty much required--- like the Brushless Motor on the King, No question about that one. Since you brought up the Blade CP (I didn't this time I got a blade CP pro last week completely stock. So as an experiment I flew it Friday and Saturday and wanted to see the difference between my modded one and stock. Out of the box---it did actually fly pretty good upright funnels, inverted funnels, flips, rolls and an inverted hover. The stock rate gyro did an O.K. job , and the stock brushed motor was O.K. with a new battery but got pretty warm. Sunday morning I put a brushless motor on it and my Telebee gyro on it and it's perfect (for me) Stock plastic head works fine( No need for CNC here) Oh Geez, I rambled on In my opinion, the best upgrade for most helis is become a better pilot no matter what heli you fly ! It's a free upgrade, well almost free, tons of stick time required

By the way Bob, the above post is NOT directed to you. But to Novices who Blame the heli for their lack of piloting skills.

Thanks Doug, I did not take it that way.
I was really surprised on the first full power climb how fast the belt really is with the stock BL motor. The same motor I've had in it for six months. Weight really makes a difference! I will only install precise metal cnc stuff that adds to the performance on my helis from now on. The Esky metal detracts from the performance and adds weight. The most important mod though is losing the stock dampeners and adding my version of Doug's 'windshield washer hose' dampeners. The model is now light, nimble, and tight. Of course consider that I have better that stock servos and electronics. I don't think it will crash well though. Doug, let us know if you find and use the plastic fuel hose as a dampening system. It's the stiffest system I've found that still has some 'give' to it. BTW you will have to work and kinda pry the dampeners in at first. The 1/4" o.d. is a few thousandths too large for the opening. Then I use a cordless drill to install the spindle in it because the inside diameter is now a few thousandths too small. With the spindle in the drill, it easily enters the first dampener but you have to kinda hold the other dampener as it goes through it because it's a tight fit. Once the dampeners are installed and 'broken in' they are removed and re-installed easily and last forever. Don't worry about the spindle not turning freely, it doesn't matter. Your helis will flip and roll faster than before.

BTW Doug
This hose that I have been calling 'plastic' is in fact urethane. It is very durable. It 'breaks in' quickly and lasts indefinitely.

urethane sounds almost like a "space-age polymer" Looking forward to trying it Thanks again BoB Who !

I replaced the dampeners in my Belt CP with bearings (aka BCPP). I like the flight characteristics...

That urethane hose kinda 'breaks in' pretty quickly for such tough material. And I've never worn any dampeners out made of of this stuff. The head flys smooth and tight. I have them on 3 blade cp pros, a Honey Bee King, a Belt CP, and I think I put them I the Trex too. I'm curious if you find your micro handles quicker and just as stable.
