e-Mikado Logo 400 500 600 > Landing Gear Vibration on Logo 500

I have been flying my logo 500 but the landing gear have a bad vibration. It has been this way since the first flight. Is it because the landing gear are so flexible or some other reason, nothing else seems to vibrate. Wondering if tail belt tension can cause this?

Hi Z,

I have a fly-barred Logo 500, but mine is silky smooth. That's one of the things that I like best about it.

Have you weighed your main and tail blades on a gram scale? I had to put an inch and a half long piece of electrical tape on one of my SAB blades to get them to balance.

Keep 'em flying.

Vibration in a Logo usually is a setup problem. Are your blades tracking properly? Blades balanced? Does your tail vibrate also?

The tail doesn't vibrate, just the landing gear. I am thinking you might be right in the blades. I am running a new pair of Maniac 553's that have been known to be a little out of balance from time to time, I will check them out and let you know.

The Maniacs are balanced, but I still have the vibration in the landing gear, any other suggestions. Nothing else seems to be vibrating, just the landing gear.

Headspeed

Hey man...sounds like you are seeing a wobble/vibes from the dampners in the head...if you have the green K&B dampners in the head then you'll get some wobble at low speeds...

Are you seeing the wobble at 2000rpm's and over?

Yeah, it is once the headspeed is up to speed and I lift off that the landing gear looks blurry it is vibrating so bad. Not affecting flight, just worry's me that if the landing gear are vibrating, then other things are too! I haven't messed with the dampeners, whatever Bobby had in there is still in there.

Vibes...

You may want to check all the bearings in the main shaft area...and also check the main shaft to see if it's bent

I would also look to see if there is anything loose on that head..make sure all the bolts in the frame are tight...a small amount of bearing play can cause the vibes you are seeing also..

Will do, is there a good set of replacement bearings you recommend, like the Boca Bearings or anything like that? I see that Boca has a kit for the Logo 10 but not the 500, but I assume all the bearing sizes are the same between the two, correct?

Im checked everything and it seems tight and the main shaft is straight. Im gonna throw on my Gohbee's and see if the Maniac's are the problem. If not, then I will look at replacing the main bearings.

Bearings...

They are all the same....90% of helis use the same main shaft bearings..

I wouldn't waste the extra money on "fancy" bearings....not worth it if you ask me..

Thanks Jag, that will be my next step after switching out blades and seeing if the Maniac's are the problem.

Just to make sure I just ordered a new hardened main shaft and a set of Boca Ceramic main bearings, that oughta fix it!

Blade Tracking

I used a bubble level to track my blades on the bench.

This worked so awesome, because I can't see tracking tape anyway,
I could only track little helis on the bench with tracking tape and a flashlight.

If anyone has ever used a bubble level I would like to hear about it.

If you have never used a bubble level on a 50-90 heli, contact me and I will post pictures how to do it the correct way.

I fly and then I fly some more.

I run my Logo 5003D with 2350-2400 HS, zero vibes on any parts. What you describe is definetly an imblance, a bearing or shaft.
