I have just finished painting my new fury with Pactra Paint. It looks awesome and I really don't want it to get messed up. I have been planning to have the canopy clearcoated by a friend at a local body shop. What kinds of things should I be sure to do before taking the canopy? I am scared to scuff the paint fearing it may chip off, what are the best ways to do this and not ruin my paint job. Also is there anything I should check as far as paint compatibility. Does anyone know the types of clearcoat that work well or do not work with the Pactra Paint. Thanks for the help. I'll try to get some pics up in the next day or two.

I use PPG 20-21 clear on the exact same paint you used. It will turn out great. I dont sand the color coats before the clear.

I would not scuff it or sand it at all! That paint is a very weak paint, it can not handle the scuffing. Just protect some how to make sure it does not get marked up until you get it to body shop. Any good quality clear coat like Dupont, PGP, and House of Kolor will work. Make sure he uses a Urethane clear coat! It holds up better then the others. Hope this helps.

Thanx!

Mort,

I saw you have X-Cell plastic canopies. Do you have Fury plastic canopies?

Has anybody tried clearing over monokote? I have been having fun cutting graphics out of adhesive monokote, but the edges aren't staying as well as I would like.

Thanks, John Cadwell
