I'm really thinking I'd like to go to the next level of set up and performance knowledge, anybody using a data logger??what do you like or not like about it?

Always planned on getting one, just haven't got around to it. I saw one at the field last weekend. It did seem to add a ton more wires to the heli and made it a tad messy looking. The data is facinating and I'm sure with some careful tucking away, the wiring could be cleaned up.

I'm not sure how interesting the temp info would be. Since that tend to peak at the end of the flight I can already get that with an IR temp gun. Current draw, voltage and headspeed would be pretty interesting and there's no better way to get that. Even a Skytach only gives you a snapshot.

I have an eagle tree on my gasser with the remote display panel at my transmitter. Being able to watch the temps (I have two, upper and lower cylinder) is comforting because any sudden rise in temp could mean problems so land it. It also displays rpm so you don't need a second person with an optical tach.
And when your done flying you can hook up to your computer and plot the data during the flight.

Here is a typical run on my gasser with the Eagle Tree

When I make tunning changes these charts provide a good baseline check against any changes caused by the tunning.

I was looking at this one,if you want just the battery info it just plugs into the batery/esc,so theres not much wiring at all

the one that is wireless telemetry looks like it would be really crazy as far as wiring, but,I'm not really concerened with temp and rpm and such,I would just like to see whats going on with the particulars of the battery

here the wireless one that gives you everything including servo performance, overkill for what I want, but still a nice piece of engineering

I just noticed that they have Spektrum cable that hooks into any Spektrum Rx that support data logging. I just got a new AR7000 for the T500 and it does support data logging. The Eagletree just got a little more interesting.

the datalogger V3 is small, light you only need to run it in line on the esc/battery unless you want the sensors, and its about70 bucks, man I'm really thinking hard on this one

that Elogger V3 is really cool. Like you said for $70. Really neat. Not a bad tool for someone who would have a fleet of electrics.

Hmm, Did not read everything but this would be neat to stick on the battery during a charge or discharge cycle of a computerized charger/discharger. (I have a Mystery 2-6S charger myself).

I bet this would be very useful to put on your heli and take data from time to time on your packs to see if they are on their way out. I have only been doing electrics for about a year and have had zero battery failures (I now have a collection of 3 2S, 12 3S and 3 4S batteries of various sizes) but I wonder how often a battery pack goes bad? (when not abused).

you would be able to see any decline in performance almost immediately

I've been electric only for about 18 months now and have had 0 battery failures. My #1 battery has OVER 500 cycles, its lost its punch but i can still use it for set up and hover/tuning

I have 4 batts with about 300 cycles that still perform fine for flips and rolls and other sport flying.

I've often wondered when I see posts about guys complaining about 100 or so cycles on batts and then they start puffing and such,I know I'm not pushing the heli hard at all,but I have to wonder if they are not matching their power system properly,or abusing batts in some other way(temp, discharge, cheap charger or not balance charging)but then again I am a FIRM believer in good batts.and I've been saying this LONG before I became a rep.everyone here on e-sky knows my feelings on batts,cnc,3d,and wankers

well here's a funny little story, good and bad.I was all set to order an eagletree v3 logger, and also get 2 more batts for my "battery test",called the bank to check the balance on my CC I use for online ordering, well the balance was about 400 off from what I thought it should be

called customer service, someone had charged 400 bucks worth of i TUNES songs on my card, and I dont even own an iPOD

so, had to shut down my account, while a fraud investigation was initiated

long story short,my money has already been refunded, investigation is ongoing, but I will have to wait till sometime this week for a new card,to order online.

I caught it quick which was good, but once the new card is here,I am going to set up a heli ONLY account,so if anything like this happens again,I will not have to put a hold on all my accounts

soon as the new card arrives,I'm ordering a v3 logger
