I have a trex 600 pro and I'm interested in relocating the sensor to the main gear. I can't stand the stock location because it's a nightmare to service. How can I do this so the gv1 is able to read a 1:1 ratio?

You may have to use 4 magnets (or more) to get it to read the main gear rpm, all orientated the same way.

The governor doesn't read 1:1 it uses the gear ratio to display the head speed, its only interest is in the motor RPM

Well, maybe it could work if you place more than one magnet. If you for instance use 8 magnets evenly spaced around the main gear, it should work.

Keep in mind that you might not get as smooth RPM when overreving the rotor and the one-way gear spinns. Then the gov will lower the throttle to keep the set headspeed, which will not work as the rotor is disconnected from the motor and it will underrev for a second as the motor has to recover from the false slow down.
