Jetset,
I just wanted to say hi from one Canuck to another. I'm out of the country right now (teaching in South Korea) but I hope to be back in Canada for Christmas. I don't think I'll be learning to fly in the winter though, since I'm from even farther north than you (I'm from Ottawa)
I would think that as long as it's not terribly cold, learning in the winter would be an okay way to do it since soft snow would be more forgiving of mistakes. But like rhd said, the plastics would be more brittle.
I've been hanging around this forum for a few weeks now and I'm impressed, everybody's been friendly and quite a few seem to be very knowledgeable. I would say you've come to the right place
Thanks,
