The Colourfull Cube

I used to play with this and all its off springs friends about18 years ago.

I used to be pretty good at it. Not so sure I could beat 40 seconds these days.

Do a search on the net, Rubik's cube has a big following.

I got so pissed at mine in 7th grade.. I smashed it to bits.. then I put it all back together with the sides matching... Glad they went of style... It was a pain in the @$$ toy.....

Barone, what type of method do you use to solve? I've just recently started playing with one and I'm learning to use the Petrus method. Right now it takes me 3-4 minutes to solve the whole thing.

Took the stickers off and matched the colors.

had a mate who was real good at the cube, took his apart and put it back together complete, swapped stickers from two of the corner pieces so it looked almost done, jumbled it up and left it on the side for him to play with later.

Took him days to work out why he couldn't complete it

Just heard yesterday on the Bob and Tom show that the new record for solving that thing is 20 seconds! He beat the old record of 29 seconds.

I like many others, ripped the damn thing apart and put it back together with matching colors.

That's cool. I knew they were having the World Championships this year for the first time in many years. Some people can actually get in the teens but it's not "official" unless done in competition or something like that.

Just read an article in the SF chronicle, some guy here in the North bay does it in less than 20 seconds. I believe his record was 18 seconds. I believe it set the Guiness records?
