Beginners Corner > G2 - Sim - How accurate are the add-on Heli's

I just picked up G2 - really enjoy it. Although I was getting frustrated at first I have been practicing for the past few days and I can pretty much keep it at a sloppy hover. I am going to work on the sim for awilhe before I try for real. How accurate are the add-ons primarily the Raptors ? I want to start on a real Raptor 30 so I want as much practice as I can get on the sim..
Thanks

another beginner

I am using RealFlight G2 with Add-ons Vol. 3 and my Futaba 8uhps to learn to fly my Raptor 30. For hovering and figure 8's, the sim feels right on to me. I cannot speak about full forward flight because I am not there yet. Take your time and sit on the sim as much as possible. The time you spend on the sim will pay off in the end; it has for me.

I hear you :)

I have been trying to spend at least an hour on it a day.. Everytime I get on the PC I have been trying to hover for a few minutes. Is it normal to be drifting ALOT whe nyou first start??

Drifting..

I'm just in the beginning stages of hovering myself and the sim helps out a great deal especially in building my hand eye coordination. It is normal for it to drift abit especially during take-off when you are still close to the ground and the ground effects cause the heli to drift abit. I find it always seems to drift to the left (that's with tail in) and also moves forward abit. I believe it is just as important to have your tx setup for the sim right as it is for the real thing. Make sure your tail is not drifting left or right and adjust the rudder sub-trims accordingly. Same goes for the cyclic and elevator. Once these are setup right and the heli is more stable in the sim you will be spending more time learning rather than fighting the drifting. Not to mention it's good practise for setting up and learning what your TX is capable of.

Ok enough babbling out of me.
