I just purchased one of these for my Raptor, and was wondering.. should this be used with a digital high speed servo, or would a regular relatively fast bb servo work ok??

uh oh............

C.S.M IGC540 ADVANCED HEADING LOCK GYRO

I'm guessing it's a mediocre gyro then?? I'm new to heli's and not sure.. Just thought it'd be better than my helimax and JR 410t....

please advise..
thanks,

540 gyro

deckerv. That gyro is still a good one. In all my helicopters all I use is the CSM 360. Only my Mercury M 46 has a 540. The both of them hold very well.

I have 6 machines with the 540s on them. I am using JR 8700g servos on 3 and the others have .16 speed non digital coreless servos. All hold great and I don't even bother to change the default settings on them. The only things that cause problems with them are vibration and binding tail linkage. Both will make them tend to drift some.

Hush your mouth!

I have two 540/8700g combos that hold extreemly well for the type of flying I'm doin...

But I am ready to try something different.

With the 540 make sure no matter what servo type you use, that the tail linkage is slop free!

540

Thanks!! I was getting a bit worried that I blew money on junk..

I aquired a Futaba GY501, and I think that'll be my primary gyro on the Raptor, the 540 on the Concept, and the JR 410t on the Nexus.. (going to rid myself of that Helimax gyro in the Nexus right now).

Would that sound logical?? I'm guessing the 501 is best of the 3, CSM second, and the JR 3rd??

The 540 and 400 are good gyros. There can sometimes be the tendency to go with what is new and latest and greatest. I own both of these and find them to be great. Go with no tail link slop as it is sensitive.
