That basically a "Ford VS. Chevy" question. All of the 2.4G systems work great. It's really about what feature you like, or are used to. JR menus and programming features vs. Futaba menus and programming features... ect

You think your kids are expensive now?

Just wait until they move out!!

You wont get any insight in this thread. Trust me.
You're going to get biased opinions and thats it.

If you already saw a chart that lists all the pros and cons, then you already have the best there is when it comes down to you making a choice.

The guys who like Futaba will tell you get Futaba
The guys who like JR/ Spektrum will tell you to get JR/ Spektrum.
The guys who like Airtronics will tell you get Airtronics.
And the guys who like XPS, will tell you to buy an XPS module for the radio you already have.

Dood,

That's not true.

I didn't tell him to get a 9303 (Even though it IS the best radio on the market). I didn't say that the programming menus in the Futaba systems suck, compared to the simplicity of the JR menus.

I was very un-biased in my post.

I'm not biased either, (except that Spektrum's ModelMatch feature is worth the price of the radio)

Hey, it looks like you made up your mind already?
That was pretty quick.

I see you're looking for a 2.4 module for the 9C

They all work.

Reasons I went JR/Spektrum.

JR/Spektum has the widest range of Rxes available, from the micro AR6300 up to the 12 ch. They offer ones that have high power connectors and built in voltage regulators and ones with built in rev limiters. And thier Rxes tend to be cheaper.

Model Match. Prevents you from trying to fly a model with the wrong model selected in the Tx.

And finally, I had a JR and went with a Spektrum module as a cheaper easier way to go 2.4, then switched to X9303 as I had a bunch of Rxes.

I use Futaba and I like it.but will admit that Spektrum has the best range of receivers and they are on the cutting edge of receiver development for receivers.

Both systems work well and have their good and bad points.
Best suggestion is get the system that they guys helping you have (if you are at the beginning level). That way someone will be around to help you with any questions you may have.

I agree with Kcordell. I am a Futaba guy and hate the programming on the JR/spectrum. I think that Futaba is programming is more user friendly. But all are good and you should get what most have at your field, if you are a beginner, this way you could get help.

I wish I could fly 24/7

Funny, I find the Futaba programing not intuitive and hard to deal with.

But I agree, get what the locals are flying as you can get more help that way. And it will be easier to buddy box with them.

But do watch, even in a given area one club will be Futaba and the other club will be JR/Spektrum.

i should have expected it, cause multiple companies making the same particular item is going to pros and cons versus that next guy...

XPS=BAd? there the ones where the chart they made, came up with where their product is far superior to the futaba and specktrum..

If I were switching over to 2.4 now I would purchase the 12X.I have a X9303 now but minds wonder in the R/C world and if you decide to get into another field,(Jets),then you have the extra available channels for it.Plus the 12x is a real nice radio!

Well the advise to get what the local guys are using is the best advise on this thread.
I will tell you this.
I have worked part time in a hobby shop for the last several years and in the past year and a half in our shop JR/Spektrum has out sold the Futaba 2.4 systems 30 to 1.
Now gratned some of this is due to the fact that most local guys are using JR/Spektrum but with such overwelming numbers I would suspect that JR/Spektrum has something going for them that Futaba doesn't.

For years I was a Futaba man....

20+years, acutally.

I bought the little DX-7 on a lark. I wanted a heli radio for my T-rex.
I used a Futaba 9ZHP for all of my other models.
After years of constantly having to look back to the manual to program that feature packed, pretty to look at 9Z I was amazed that the little DX-7 not only met all my needs on my other models, but the programming was so simple I never needed the book after the first read.
I guess a lot of folks are turned off because the radio looks and feels kind of cheap, but hell you can get a Transmitter and receiver for $300 and it works great and is easy. I used to have the costliest radio at the field, now I have the least expensive and I won't go back.

The only thing I miss from the 9Z is the throttle kill switch.

Argue for your limitations and sure enough, they're yours

I'm going to get bashed for using XPS but still do.
I started out with Futaba 4 channel no memory. Then a Futaba 6 digital. Then I said to my self. Self, you need to stop buying radios, so I got the Futaba 9C thinking thats all the radio I needed. And for awhile it was true. Then the 2.4 systems starting coming out, but not at the same time. I liked my 9C so I went with what was out there and got the XPS module but then I had intermixing problems due to latency. So then I got a Used XP9303 and moved the XPS to that and all is good. In the mean time I picked up a Spectrum 6i for a good price for my small foamy and 450 helis. While doing that I got more spectrum RX's than I had Channels. So then I got the Spectrum module for my Futaba. And thus ends the circle of life LOL

My vote

I started with Orbit -Reeds, Kraft proportional then to Futaba. I was a die hard Futaba person until I flew JR. I have flown 10X, 9303, DX-7, and now X9303 2.4. I have never understood the infatuation with the throttle kill switch. I set the idle trim in the detent and use the ATV to get the idle I want in the detent. Full low trim kills the engine. I have only used the manual on a couple of occasions. Model match has already saved me once. That was worth the price of the radio. Mark

Wow, I used to be sponsored by Orbit way back when.

That was a relief, since I had a EK single stick with those old brick servos.

Wish I could have got a Proline but they were too expensive for me at the time.

Man, that was ages ago.
