Scale Model RC Helicopters > Usage of a 90 size motor and muffler question

Anyone using a 90 size motor in your scale heli? If so, what muffler system are you running?

I decided to use a Fury Extreme for a scaler and needed to find out if someone could recommend a muffler system to be used in the fuse.

Thanks.

You can try looking at some F3C mufflers like the Hatori 950/953 or the VJP 90size muffler. Such mufflers have shorter header and pipe length to fit in F3C fuse and are generally quieter, but most of them are for front facing engine. Century make some "scale muffler" too, I think.

#61 on the 700N list and Proud of it.

The only scale muffler they have are for the 30 size and the 60 size scalers. Don't rightly know if the 60 size scale muffler will work on the 90 size engine.

Ray,
typically 60 size and 90 size hardware are the same. most do not realize that the 90 size engines fit the same engine mounts and muffler mounts as well. i have a 90 in my blackhawk and seaking and the mufflers were both listed for 60 size machines. for scale, i go for something that will fit in the fuse and is fairly quiet.

not a problem. sometimes the rules can be broken a little. the xcelli have in my blackhawk started life as an xcell 50 (old school) withthe metal "bent" frames. all i did was stick a 90 on a "60" size mount and slapped it in. for the flight tests in pod n boom, i did lengthen the boom to clear the blades of the four bladed head. the gear ratio whatever it is, seemed fine so i kept it.

Actually, already have a fuse. It's an older Schluter Bell Jet Ranger. Emile went ahead and fabricated a landing gear for me (Hadn't picked it up yet from the post office).
