norsman,

I fly my logo 10 3d on 5s with a century 600 (1100kv) motor and 21t pinion (0.5 mod, 200t main gear). I get ~6 min runtimes out of 5s evo25 3700 packs at ~2000 hs. I get ~5.5 min runtimes with Outrage 5s 25xp 3700 packs, and ~2100 hs (most fun for sure).

For nice long 9-10 minute runtimes at ~1950 hs (sport flying-soft 3D), I use TP Prolite 15C 5s3p 6000 packs. These packs weigh ~670g (only about 170g more than the Outrage and Evo25 5s 3700 packs) and they just fit between the frames. You need to push them as far back as possible though (next to the tail servo) to get a good CG. Also, you need the long logo 10 3d CF battery mount to support the front end of the battery pack. There is still lots of room with the logo 10 3d canopy, but it it's a tight fit with the stock logo 10 canopy, but still ok.

Actually I really like these packs. Too bad they are still so expensive (~$330, esp. for old battery technology). Having said that, they have performed very well for +100 cycles now (~75 cycles on a 2x5s Ion-x and ~ 25 cycles each on my logo 10 3d).

I have not had any problems with the 0.5 mod gears since I started setting them up pretty tight to the maingear high spot (all non-machined main gears have this), and then ran a few easy runs on it to break them in. However, like others have said, if I were to run it on 6s 25c 37-4500 packs at +2200 hs, the 0.7 mod gear sets would be the way to go imop. Just remember that if you change the main gear and pinion to 0.7 mod, you need to change out the tail gear as well! Pretty easy to find the logo 0.7 mod gears, they start with part #mik3000.

Best cheers,
TomC

What makes the Century 600 motor better then the Z30A-1100 I already have. I've got a CChv85 on the way.

They are essentially the same motor. A slight difference in color and where it comes from, that's all ........Ron

Great info Tom,I'm finding it hard to find good used 6s packs at a reasonable price but there seams to be quite a few 5 s out there.Right now I have the same set up as you,but the 20t pinion.I just bought a 21 for it ,so I will see how the 5s flys. It's a 5s flightpower 4250 and with the 20t it's just to low of a head speed, now when I fly my 6s on the 20t it's perfect with great pop!!Do you think if I like the 5s with the 21t that I can just run my 6s at 80% throttle?? to keep my 6s pack.Is running the 5s set up like you have Tom have as much pop as the 6s??I understand it's gearing VS amp's,but with all the 5s deals out there It might be the way for me to go,I just really like the snap of the flightpower6s 3300Thanks Lars

Lars,

All things equal, 6s will always give you a bit more pop than 5s. Try the 5s/21t and see how you like it. I don't think that the Jazz escs would have much problem running 6s with this setup at ~70% gov but I'm not sure whether the CC escs gov could handle this or not.

I run my 5s logo 10 3D with an old Hacker 77 heli esc and 100% flatline idleup throttle curve. Works for me.

I use 5s packs mainly because I've got lots of them! Also, you are right, they are a bit easier to source as well.

Good luck and cheers,
TomC

Nope, I'm going with A123's, so I'm waiting on those and a new charger. I should be in the air by next week if all goes well. Thanks for you help.

I've seen a few threads where people talk about lipo's vs A123s, so I'm wondering which A123 configuration is the best to use 8s or 10s? (spec's: 500mm, Z30a-1100, hv-85)

Here is my Logo 10's setup,

Scorpion 4020-1100
CC HV45
17 tooth pinion
6S Flight Power 3700mah and 6S Hobbycity Zippy 5000mah packs

http://www.hobbycity.com/hobbycity/...30C_Lipoly_Pack

The 6S 5000 packs weighs about 8oz more and had to slide them back a bit to get the CG right...these bigger packs fit okay and the heli doesn't seem to notice the extra weight.

Used a onboard watt meter and pulling 45amps at about 1100 watts.

Style of flying is just FF, Figure eights, Loops and now learning rolls.

Still breaking in the packs so for now, I bring her down after 5 mins.

Cheers,

Gord.

Hi Jag72,

I have been using the HV45 for about 3 years now without any issue having said that your point is well taken...once I start doing more advanced maneuvers, ie: 3D, than the ESC will be upgraded for sure.

Cheers,

Gord.

Gwong how do those hobbycity packs fit ?? My frame only allows 45mmX38Mm unless I'm missing something .I've been looking for what packs fit with higher MAH.Also TomC Ive tryed the 21t on 5s and it's not a 6sI think I'm gonna stick with the 20t on 6 cells.I have a 5s flightpower I'll swap for a 6s flightpower it's almost newAnd a 21 pinion used once for sale

Norsman,

Ya, like I said earlier, 6S will always give more pop than 5s. Some of this might have to do with the condition/quality/age of your 5s packs. I get a lot more pop with my newer 5s Outrage packs than I do with my older Evo25's.

6s w/20t should be a real weapon (~+2400 unloaded hs, gov'd to ~2200). You'll probably still be able to use your old 5s packs with this setup for some nice ~1850 hs sport flying.

Good luck and cheers,

TomC

Hi Norsman

The hobbycity zippy 6S 5000mah measures 160 x 51 x 46mm

I measured the battery tray on my Logo 10 3D before ordering them...they are 8 oz heavier than the 6S Flightpower 3700mah that I was using. I also plan to use the 5000mah packs in my top flite p51.

Here are a few pics

Cheers,

Gord.
