| Oil ContentSo 16-17% oil in Cool Power is not enough oil so you add oil. That may or may not be a good idea.
First, oil percentages are bogus. Why? It all depends on the oil used. 16% oil maybe a lot or just a little depending on the oil. So.... What does 16,17, 23% oil really mean? IT MEANS NOTHING if you don't know the specifications of the oil used, so you need to have a trust with the fuel manufacturer.
Adding oil... Why it is not a good idea..... Again, do you know the oil being used? If you do or you can buy the oil from the fuel manufacturer then you can assure yourself of oil compatability. I know Morgan (Cool Power) sells oil seperately and Wildcat will tell you what oil is being used.
A perfect example in gas engines (not glow), petroleum oil (Lawn Boy) is usally 32:1 as low as 50:1. Amsoil is 100:1. They are very different oils.
As far as heli's go, we use a Synthetic oil and we typically do not know the oil spec.
If xxx fuel company came out with a new fuel for heli's that said the fuel only had 3% oil, would you use it? Even if it lubricated better than the 17% stuff? Last comment on oils...
Oil also helps remove heat. Most of us know this. With this fact, the more oil the better heat removal. Even the 3% oil scenario may not work as the % of oil in the fuel may not remove enough heat.
When I switched to Amsoil 100:1 from Honda HP2 which is 50:1, I did get a hotter run, not much, but the cylinder temps did increase. This was in a 105cc twin gas engine.
Bottom line.... the oil percentage may or may not be an issue or adding oil is not always a good thing either. If you are not sure, just call the fuel company. They will be able to tell you if the Klotz your adding is compatabile with their oil and how much to add.
