Scale Model RC Helicopters > whats in nitro exhaust gas?

this question is really for copter doctor, because hes made different types of silencers etc.

what i was thinking is that the smoke is a thick white coming from the exhaust, what is it that makes it white and not 'lighter or clear' like from a petrol engine. if its the oil cant the oil be filtered out to make the exhaust less noticable.

copter doctor, i know youve tried different things to reduce the noise but have you done anything or found anything that has reduced the smoke?

i mean filtering it when it exits the exhaust, not before you put it in the engine.!

I use only 10% Oil without Nitro for my Hirobo Dauphin with OS91. The only way to reduce smoke is to reduce oil.

not sure what exactly is all the contents but like mentioned above, reducing oil reduces the smoke and i like the oil because it lets the engine run cool as well as lubricates for longer life. i run the morgan 15% cool power and sometimes the 30% which has plenty oil. i will sometimes add extra synthetic oil to my 15%cp for cooler runs in the summer. the smoke doesnt bother me at all as i am used to it after 20 plus yrs. it also lets me know the engine is running cool enough and that it is happy
i have only experimented with noise level and routings. i will let morgan inc do everything else

drive a rotary, fly a rotorcraft

You can always go electric and your heli won`t look like it`s on fire and will sound more scale,too...

Smoke never bothered me at all until I started flying a scale gasser. Now I don't like the smoke even with a pod and boom machine.
