The last few weeks here have been very educational and enlightening. The political debates are great and I wish our kids were getting a Political Science education as thought provoking as we are. But I am getting an ill feeling in regards to one thing and tell me if I am nuts or do you see a similar scenario:

Obama gets elected.
He plants the seed of "Individuals doing what is best for their country" and "It is not about what you have as an individual, but what you can provide the population with."

With difficulty and probably not overnight he is able to push through a very wide sweeping ban on firearms/ammunition of all types.
The dust settles a bit.
Thus the door to total governmental control of the population is opened.

Stalin?
Pol-Pot?

People today are not of the same mindset that they were back when our country was founded. The nanny state has even creep into conservatives. Most people today would rather live under a dictatorship than fight an oppressive government. The people that want to take away the citizens right to defend ones self from crime, and oppression would have our founding fathers rolling in their graves.

Don't tell me you too believe he's a real old fashioned communist?

I'm afraid the answers to your question might very well be: Yes.

Please take a look around, there are plenty of socialist countries around which are doing just fine, in fact much better than you are....what's so scary about that...

Supposedly a leftie :-) And another one ignored...

Don't think so. Even with this financial "crisis" Joe Sixpack is in better shape than MANY places on earth. The people that are really suffering are the ones that played it fast and loose. With Obamas promises of higher taxes for his social experiments that will change.

So, TinTin, why didn't you invest your pension fund in your own country?

If you avoid failure, you also avoid success.

Oh we did, but some of it was put into your system. High risk sometimes equals high profit, in this case some billions evaporated...

Any wise investor would spread his assets, but maybe you didn't know that?

You're the one complaining about losing money, maybe you didn't.
