Hi

please help me out with advice/opinions on gearing a mastmast head for a videocamera. (I have no experience with the performances of the components )

For a while I have been working with a video camera on a mast for sportevent and teaching shooting(coaching). Be it all works very well, is easy to setup etc there is one thing that makes me consider making a different pan/tilt head namely the current setup is a bit to slow at times to follow the action.
Also whats

What is your experience/advice an planning the parts for a slow smooth but at times fast pan.(gearing, hold etc).
I do work hardwired as he footage goes directly to the laptop.
Being the mast is pretty stable would extra stabelizing with gyros for example be of any help?

feedback appreciated.

current setup:
12 ft lightstand with home depot alu tubes making a total of 21 feet (more than enough for m use in- and outdoors)
replaced the lockingbolts with quickrelease bicycle clamps
Remote head is currently a Bescor mp101 holding a dv cam (in contrast to other filmers I find slow at times and not variable enough in speed)
camera (and control) and head are hardwired to groundstation ( firewire for video, power for cam and head, control for cam and head)

thanks
