e-Align T-REX 250-450-500-600 > T-REX 450 Ground Piro Problem

Im having a problem with my Trex where it is doing uncontrolled counterclockwise piros on the ground at spoolup. Im using a DX7, 401 and JR DS3400 on the tail.

Ive checked belt tension, made sure the mains and tail rotors are spinning the same direction, pitch range -3 to +8, pitch curve 35-37-53-64-84, throttle curve 0-53-66-82-100, no revo mix, Ive checked that HH mode is working before I spool up, rudder is pitching in the correct direction, no subtrims, travels are all 100%, swash mix all +60.

Any suggestions before I pull my hair out?

Thanks

sounds like the gyro needs to be reversed.with the heli armed,by hand rotate the heli counter clockwise, the servo(tail)arm should move toward the front of the heli

also right rudder makes the servo arm move forward, check this also

Fender, I checked both and they are set correctly, tail servo arm moves forward on both occasions...

do you set your 401 up in RATE mode?(some people do not )but maybe you need more pitch at neutral on the tail blades

did you have a crash?was the heli flying fine and it just started doing this?did you move or change anything?

What do you mean by the main and tail rotor is spinning in the same direction?

just noticed that also, they should be opposite, the mains spin clockwise and when looking at the tail rotor side of the heli they should spin counterclockwise or up into the main rotor.did you not put a twist on the belt or maybe 1 extra?

Fender, yes i set it up in rate mode, and have a solid red light on the 401 when HH is working. It was flying well for the past week, but today I decided to switch the tail servo around to face the correct way (the guy i bought it from had it facing the wrong way on the boom). When I switched around the problem started. I also changed out a GY240 for the 401 while I was changing the servo around. Now I cant remember which things I changed. Working on it for 4 hours already. Im sure the tail rotors are spinning in the right direction.

heli - I meant both the mains and tail rotors are are spinning in the proper directions with leading edge first.

If You turned the servo around you have to reverse the gyro switch.

rob,are you SURE right rudder makes the servo arm move forward(toward the body of the heli) and rotating the heli COUNTER clockwise also makes it move forward?

Strat, yes Im sure

Just to be sure, when i yaw the heli to the right, the servo makes the tail give left thrust, so i think the gyro and servo reversing are both set up correctly. The tail servo is doing what it should be doing based on control input and gyro correction.

I think it might have something to do with programming the radio correctly. I have watched videos of setting the radio and gyro up a few times, but still not working right...

Check the following:

Heli sitting in front of you, nose to the right, tail to the left.

TR turns Counter clockwise. TR blade on right side of TR shaft is moving UP -- leading edge of blade is on top. CONTROL BALL is on TOP. If it turns clockwise, your belt is twisted the wrong way.

TR blade on left side of TR shaft is moving DOWN -- leading edge is down. CONTROL BALL is on BOTTOM.

TR should be LEADING EDGE BLADE control.

-----

Right rudder tells servo to PULL TR rod FORWARD. If not, REVERSE RUDDER channel at TX.

Pick up heli, turn nose to LEFT while watching servo arm. The servo should pull the TR pushrod forward.

-----

If this is all correct, and you still have the wild counterclockwise spin, then check the pulleys at the front and rear end of the belt. They have been known to loosen up and slip on the shafts.

If you reverse your belt during a belt change you'll also have to reverse your gyro gain.

My blade mCX can outfly your Aurora!! (in a 1' x 1' x 1' box) :)

If you have your belt turned the wrong way, you have to correct it and I don't know what reversing the gain will help?
