I just started doing loops and rolls with my 450se my head speed was to low so I changed to the 14t pinion and now my align motor gets HOT, like you don't want to touch it even for a second hot. the align speed control is warm but not enough that I am concearned, my outrage 25c batt is still cool

You need to use a 13T if its that hot.

anything above 140f is hot on the battery. This is what was told to me. How long are you flying the battery for?

its not the battery getting hot, battery is cool.
Esc is warm not really hot either.

I thought about going down to the 13t but I like the head speed on the trex now, even though its still not as high as my cypher.

I know I can always go for a higher kv motor, which is what will happen if I burn this one up.

On 13t, headspeed is high enough to do this:

Sounds like you need to invest in good packs. The ones in that video are prototypes, they will be out soon. You can find em on Lightning Power.com

(remove the space in the link, mark does that because he doesn't like rcHeli Resorce [purposefully spelled wrong]:-))

i seconds these... i flew the 25c 2200 in my trex 500 and bought 4 30c 2500s cant wait 2 fly them... if its getting hot its either you need to work on your collective management or your batteries arn't giving out the juice the motor wants causing it 2 get hot

If poor collective management will make it get hot, then I am sure thats the problem or at least part of the problem.

I have heard good things about the preformanceplus packs and even that they are the same cells as outrage. I am flying new outrage 25c 2200.

Does anyone think going up to 30c would help?

No going up to 30c wouldn't help. Obviously your packs are bad.

I think a better more efficient motor will help. Align motors are pigs. They create a lot of heat (byproduct of being inefficient) and when the motor gets hot it gets even more less efficient..

I highly recommend the Scorpion HK-2221-8 V2

That motor has a less kv, which means you will need to put a bigger pinion on it, thus making more heat. When one motor rules in one aspect, it lacks in another

Yet it would be a better choice.

The -8 does not have a lesser KV rating. I believe it's a 3600 KV motor so you would not need to step up a pinion.

The 430xl is a 3700kv motor

Do you realize how insignificant 100kv is? If you calculate it, thats only a difference of about 60 RPM's on the head, and thats assuming that the Align is just as efficient as the Scorpion. Which it is not, so the headspeed will be about the same, and the Scorpion is more efficient at the same time!

I doubt my packs are bad I have 1 with less than 20 cycles on it, I balance charge on a hyperion DUO and have yet to put more than 1600mah back in a 2200 pack, well below the 80% rule

Not to mention I thought your battery got hot when it was bad or was being pushed to hard? the battery is cool.

Well what else could it be? Besides the battery going bad, the only other thing I could think of is your main gear mesh is way too tight.
