So is the shaft shearing a thing of the past?

Scratch that, just tried the Scorpion 4025 890kv with a 20T pinion on 6s and it is amazing!

Sounds like Scorpion motors are quickly becoming the motor of choice for all voltages.

Where did you get a 20t pinion and what headspeed do you get?

Haven't tached it yet but im guessing 2300 at least! I made the pinion using a 600N pinion (20T Mod 0.7), I machined the excess length off the pinion and made a press fit sleeve to bring the I.D. down to 5mm, then I drilled and tapped it and put a grub screw in.

I have the 20T with the 890 and with a CChv85 the HS came in at 2180 at 100% flat. If you like the 890 on 6s wait till you try the 890 on 8s. I have added 2s to a 6s to get up to 8s and using a 15T the HS is at 2190 and runs so smooth, no bog, and the battery temps are down. You also pick up 1 to 1 1/2 of flight time depending on how hard you are on the collective. At $114, the Scorpion is a real bargain. The required pinions are available at readyheli.com.

I made up my mind today and ordered the NEU 1512H/1.5Y/F. I will use it with the CC HV85. I'll make sure that the gear mesh is not too tight that it will damage the bearings. Will update how it goes.

My Trex-600E will be heavier because I upgraded to the 2mm CF frames and an aluminum bottom plate. The CC HV85 is also heavier than the stock Align ESC. On the bright side, I won't be using a receiver battery, using a Hercules BEC instead.

I would not recommend going without a separate battery, if you lose the ESC or have a failure you have lost the heli for lack of control with no power to the rx and servos, there is no chance to auto home. I just had a CC85 burn up a few days ago. I am switching to the Jive 80hv. I know it is expensive but I don't want to burn up any more ESC's.

Be careful with low Kva motors that run high torque. Your main gear can be ripped. I had a 1050 KVa TT motor on my 600 (running 16 tooth pinion) and it tore up TWO main gears. (beatuful motor though).

nothing automatic about autorotations man..
