Radio Shack or an appliance repair shop.

Yep, Radio Shack.

Recently, my 9303 has been blowing fuses about 1 in 5 times when I plug it into the charger. It's never happened until now (after about 1.5 years of owning it), so I don't get it. I blow a lot of fuses.

Anyone else having this problem?

Something is shorted in your charge jack or charge lead.

That's what I suspected at first too, so I replaced it with a new one, but the problem persists. And it only happens once in a while.

I've turned down the charging rate and that seems to have helped as it only happens once a week instead of 3 times a week now. I was charging at 1.2A and now I'm at about .7A.

Strange!

Are you using the correct size male charge jack?
If you don't use the correct size jack you can and will blow fuses when plugging in the charger.
JR male plugs have a different size ID hole than the Futaba male charge jack.
This causes a momentary short when plugging in the charger.

Intesting idea there. Although I'm using the one that came with the radio, but I've clipped it and added bannana plugs so that it will plug into my charger.

I may make a new lead with a different jack and try that.

Also check to see if the black plastic insulation on the tip of the charge jack is chipped or broken.

Make sure you ALWAYS plug the bananas into the charger prior to plugging in the radio jack. All it takes is a split-second short to blow that fuse.

Absolutely. I always have them connected to the charger first. Thanks.

That was it exactly! It was shipped and so it was shorting out sometimes when I'd plug it in. Great suggestion, thanks!

Gotta love RR.. would have never found that one on my own!
