I have a new Vibe 90 and would like to know how often I should change the dampners and how do you tell when they need to be replaced.

through the stock dampners out and put in the ma stratus dampners ,they are much harder and dont wear out,and will save you from a boom whack

How do you tell when they need to be replaced? What happens if they wear out? How do you get boom strikes from worn out dampners? I am new to this and don't want any problems.

Buy the new one piece HYPER dampers from Hyperformance for the N9 and put a Trex 600N axle sleeve in the head.

Why not just use the hard dampeners that come in the kit??

How do you know when they are worn?

The hard dampers that come with the kit don't take much punishment, especially "crack". You will tell when they are worn, if you are lucky you will feel it in the head before you strike the blades against the boom. Check by gripping the blade grips and try to move them before "every" flight........

HYPERformance dampers are the way forward.

I run the 600n axle sleeve to prevent the dampers from collapsing inwards like they did on the 600n, not sure if its necessary with the new hyper rings (THEY ARE DAMN TUFF), but if you have one lying around it won't hurt to put it in.

I ran the stock dampers, and JB welded them into the plastic grips; had the snappiest response I've ever seen, and really seemed to slow down the wear on the dampers.

I did this on the the advice of Buzzin Brian....if it's good enough for Curtis' machines, it's plenty good for me.

I think he means the bearings on the grips. I had to do this to my vibe and vigor. before i did you could move the grips on the the spindle.

Wow...sorry about that mix-up...it was a really lonnngggg day.

JB Weld outer bearing races to the grips.

Thanks for the correction.

I've also been trying out using a dab of CA on the outside edge of the dampers in the headblock. It's working great on my T-rex 450 and my .50, but I haven't tried it on a .90 yet. Very stiff....
