JR Heli Vibe - Airskipper - Sylphide - Venture > Vibe 50 Autorotation bearing Tight

I have just put together my Vibe 50 and so far I seem to be happy with it. I have two questions though and will post them as two separate subjects. In this case I find the auto 1 way bearing doesn't even feel like a bearing. It feels as if the shaft is simply skidding in the bearing. It feels really tight and in fact the only way I get it to turn is if I hold the main gear (the one the clutch drives) and turn the head by hand but even then it is very tight.

Is there a shim that I might have missed (although I followed the instructions closely). Any suggestions?

Look at your parts, if you missed a shim, you should have a shim you can't explain.

But did you lube the one way? I used some automatic tranny fluid.

Did you over tighten the lower Jesus bolt? That can distort the sleeve.

Definitely did not miss a shim according to the parts list. I don't THINK I overtightened the bolt but will look at that as well as relubing the bearing

Back your lower Jesus bolt out a little probably too tight would be my guess

not sure if that will help. Once the sleeve is out of shape its over. What does puzzle me is that one would need to tight it up really good to deform the one way sleeve's 2mm thick wall.

I would remove the main gear and one way assembly all together and test it on the bench. Although unlikely, if you happen to have installed the bearing blocks upside down, the one way assembly would effectively lock against the bottom of the middle bearing block. Thats why it is important to remove the whole thing and pinpoint the origin of the drag.

The JR one way isn't smooth as silk but it should rotate freely without and resistance or drag with the force of a finger.

Well I raise my hand to point out a dumb mistake. I took the auto unit out and kept looking at it and noticed the uper and lower gear were rubbing together. I could not understand it UNTIL I looked at the top gear and guess what....I had it installed upside down where the word TOP was on the bottom. Flipped it over and it provided the gap that was needed and it is perfect now, smooth as butter.

Thanks for the help and a big DOH for me
