Aerobatic FAI F3C Contest > How to tell if a heli is a FAI F3C machine?

Hi,
I notice in F3C rules, it states that the heli use for competition must be a FAI F3C heli.
So what makes a heli a FAI F3C heli?

Usually the heli kit must cost over $2000 US before adding any electronics, engine or other stuff, or at least it seems that way

I believe any of the current 60/70/80/90 class models can and are being used for contest use.

As an example,Alan Jr has been flying a R60/90 in competition with very good results.

Obviously its the pilot, not the heli.

Usually high grade kit (expensive?). But this is due to precision parts incorporated in the machine. FAI machine should has tight and no slop control system to get instant and possitive control especially need during hovering manuver.

Believe there are rules and limitations as to what specs the heli's can use, can't remember any off hand there normally pretty obscure, but the rules apply more to external variables such as fuels and noise over the actual heli itself....if you could make a shuttle fly at competition level F3C go ahead and use it.

Hi,

There are some general rules that applies to heli entering a F3C contests

Here are some:

Rotordisk max 250 dm square
If you use a tandem rotor only count the area that is not overlapping each other, unless the rotors are directly overhead, then both area's has to be counted for a total of max 250 dm Square.

Max weight w/o fuel 6 Kilograms

Max .91 two-stroke or 1.20 4 stroke engine

When going electric, no higher voltage than 42 Volts

Rotor blades may not be made from metal.

Gyro is only allowed on Yaw axis.

I thought they changed the regulations a bit

two stroke glo motor(s): 10 cc (.61 cubic inches). Fourstroke 20 cc (1.21 cubic inches). Two-stroke gasoline 25cc (1.5 cubic inches). Electro max 30 cells and 1 battery change after the hovering figures.
Max 96dB noise @ 3 meters distance, and they specify where respective to the heli to measure this.
Area of the lifting rotor(s) is now 300 square decimeters. Max 6 kg weight without fuel.
The F3C also has fixed figures, amounting to smooth flown straight lines etc. So you also want the machine to be not wind sensitive and stable. But that's up to you!
