On mine I have the wires coming out toward the back also, the output shaft of the servo should be toward the rear.

There is a very fine line between "hobby" and "mental illness."

The Output shaft of the servo should be oriented towards the rear. This eliminates any possibility of the tail control rod/ball link from rubbing/binding up against the servo case!

whatever arm gives you 8mm from the center of the servo shaft.

a metal arm is better since it won't twist with the ball linkage moment arm.

I used the small round servo horn when I was running the 9650.

do you have the ball on the inside facing the servo, or on the outside...the only way i can keep the tail rod straight is to mount the ball on the inside...

I used the inner hole when I ran the 9650 but it was mounted away from the servo. I also ditched the steel rod and made my own carbon rod with no supports that might cause drag (or mis-alignment). Works great

The wire is the update guys, not designed for the lazy

The AMA is way better than what you belong to!

Unfortunately it was an update in the wrong direction

What is lazy about making a better solution? Just epoxy a carbon rod around the stock wire and ditch the guides. It works great with no flex and you don't have to worry about perfect alignment or guides slipping. Keep it simple.
