Cheap

I do believe there is a place in this hobby for the cheap helicopters like the HBK2. I bought one last year to fly in the gym. However, it never flew very well until I upgraded and upgraded and upgraded. I spent enough to buy a cypher 3d or similar.

The HBK2 brushed motor would actually get hot enough to unsolder the power leads from the motor after a 4 minute flight. The motors are only $10, but they seem to realistically last only a handful of flights, yes, I said a handful, like what you can count on your two hands.

Several HBK2's sold through our hobby shop because of my example, but there were several that were DOA right out of the box. They glitched terribly and the gyro never held well because the motor couldn't keep up with the demand well enough to keep the head speed up and the tail rpm high enough.

If you went with a brushless version and a 2.4ghz version, which I had heard was coming to market, I would say my tune would change entirely. However, this might be much more expensive, I don't know.

I understand the desire/need to stay on a small budget. However, I would suggest using a little more tact when you ask experienced pilots for helpful advise. No one would have any reason to steer you in the wrong direction. I do think you came across a little harsh.

I agree Tyler thats why I took affrence when he put down the ONLY helicopter that, at this point, I can fly without a buddy box or training gear. But if he want to buy something thats only 200 get Realfight G4 you can learn on any helicopter or plane and save up for a nicer helicopter in the long run.

I have a rex and a nitro .5 and wanted to see how well a little, inexpensive RTF would do. So I bought a HBK2 and it sucks. You need to upgrade nearly everything to make it fly right.

I'm thinking about making it into a scale project just so I can justify upgrading it to make it fly right.

I would suggest that if your budget is limited, start with a sim.

If you think your leaning towards a cp pro save you over 100.00 and check this link out...It is the exact same as the cp pro,,i had both and they are the same but one is much cheaper..You can get a ideal on a collective pitch heli without breaking the bank..Dn't try to put money in it with upgrades..Cp pro parts are 100% compatiable..
