Little SE you need something to fly in the house this winter?

J/K but you really got to get that big dog airborne. Its gonna kill you not experiencing it till next season.

I'd love to play along, but I'm far too anal to rush the final steps. In fact I've enjoyed the build so much, I don't want it to be over.

Honestly though, this build has gone much faster than I expected. I think the larger frames and the lack of double staking like the Trex 450 make this quicker and easier build. The parts are large enough that its easy to work with them. There's plenty of room to work.

if my servos get here the 550 may fly next weekend, all I need is a bec,and some wire and deans to make some parallel and series connections

but on another note,I am seriously considering a123 for the big heli

Well, if you are going to go large electric, might as well try at least one A123 pack. How many cells would that large bird need? Now that I've skipped to a larger heli, I might need to look into some A123 packs for the T500. Eight cells should do it.

yes 8 cells, was what I was thinking.even with my discount, 6s 5000mah lipos are a lot,and I'm going to run some series/parallel for a while, but considering I'm not going to be doing more than easy sport flying for a while with the 550,the price, sturdiness, charge time and cycle life of the a123 looks REALLY nice, and rumor has it the next generation A123's are comming out relatively soon,if they can get the weight down, its going to be the way to go.supposedly they go for 1000 cycles, and 15min charge times, thats what I'm talking about

they are almost getting into the 1 to 1 charge/flight time ratio, then we have something

from what others have told me expect 1hr of flight in a $10 quart. Oh and if you buy in the quart its higher but there is no hazzardous shipping fee. I know Im the only one who cares but man its fun just to hover a big loud smelly nitro.

I'm looking at $.25 a minute to have my 600N in the air with 15% nitro.

Not too far from a 600E cost figuring 350 cycles X 4 minute flights battery like span.

I tried to start a thread about this.

I GOT FLAMED!!!!

I wasn't SUPER CAREFUL with my verbage.

I now have a fairly complete ignore list.

At least I accomplished SOMETHING!!

I wanted to start that also but to much math involved.

My reason for going Nitro instead of quiet E-power:

I did my math for me and at the price of a new charger, power supply and battery packs. Nitro was way cheaper initially. I was hovering in the garage for $500 that's total out of pocket expense minus stuff I already had. I paid $300 for the heli and a $209 towerhobbies order of servos, glow igniter, starter wand, and a quart of fuel.

For me, I like nitro in that size.

ME LIKES NITRO!

Noise, Mess, Smell, What's not to like.

I think I could sell "Nitro Scent" candles to sim by.
