Engines Plugs Mufflers Fuel > O.S. Engines 91HZ-PS 3D PD-08 Pump Motor any good?

I am considering putting together a 90 size bird as my next project and know very little about the 90 size motors. I know I am going with the MP5 for the pipe as I have heard them on some 90's and they are very quiet. I have used the MP5's on my 50 size bird and liked it too.

My question is, what 90 size motor is most bullet proof. I am not looking for the most power, just a reliable, smooth running motor. I saw that OS has out a new 91 size motor ( O.S. Engines 91HZ-PS 3D PD-08 Pump) but I have not heard any reviews on it yet. I am leaning towards the YS 91, but if I do that which one, the long stroke, or standard??

Third, a Redline motor is supposed to come out soon, and I already love the tt53, but once again, I dont know how long that will be, or if it will have a lot of kinks in it like the 53 does.

Thanks,

Chris

Chris,

I think you'll get a lot of different answers on this one. For easy, smooth power, but not the most power I'd lean towards the YS 91ST (short stroke) with the SB16 hatori pipe. I wouldn't call it the most bullet proof as you'll replace bearings occasionally but it's easy to tune. Many people love the SR, but I don't think it's as easy to dial in.

It'll be awhile before we get long term reliability on the new OS engines. I know Hatori is working on a new pipe for this engine, but it's not available yet. Many are running the SB18 with good results. I've never had trouble with the OS SZ engines except the fuel regulator on the PS version although they do require adjustments most trips to the field.

Thanks Doug, I actually think I am leaning towards the YS motors. The new OS motors almost look like they were trying to emulate the YS motors.
