hey guys, a local shop here has an OS 46H for sale at a price of 120 bucks, i looked at the .37 and a new one costs even more than that. i have a hawk 30 sitting here in my twinstar fuselage that could really use some more power should i get the 46? or does it have problems?
thanks.

what $$120,,,, geezzzz, I bought one 7 years ago for $109 from Century , this engine should sell for $89 today,,

the engine it's self is a good engine, the problem is the Carb, some guys (as well as me and my friend) had problems tuning it,

if you do a search you will see some guys drilled Blead Holes in the side of the Carbs, as I remember the Carb ran super rich at the hover point,

I always wondered how the OS 46 would run with a 40E Carb ????

the OS 37 is a more promising engine IF your using 550/570 blades !!!

well thats good to know, i thought that was a good deal with the OS37 selling for like 145 on heliproz... guess not, does the .37 have that carb problem then?

I never had any tuning problems with my OS46FXH engines , but some people had problems with a lean midrange . Drilling the hole allowed more air into the carb on tickover , so you could richen the bottom end needle which solved the lean midrange .
The 46 won't fit the same mount as the 37 , so by the time you've changed the mount etc , you may as well go for the 37 .

At the end of the day , it gets dark .

yee-up,, like I said the 46 engine it's self is a good engine,, it would be worth it if you could get it tuned, but then you would need to buy a 50 Engine Mount, 50 size Muffler and the 14 tooth gear for your Counter Shaft, all that would bring the price close to the price of a OS 37,, so just buy the 37, it's a good powerful engine that tunes well..

shame on OS for over-pricing the 37 !! !!
