After what seemed like an eternity of research, all the elements came together less than an hour ago. After a fair amount of eTailer shopping it turns out the best deal was right down the street at the LHS.

Picked up tonight:
  • T500 CF kit - CF blades, motor and ESC
  • Futaba 9650s for the swash
  • Futaba 9257 for the tail.

Helidirect shipped my Spartan yesterday.

Only thing left to buy are a few batteries, some copper tape and silcone spray (its a T500 thing).

hey greg, I dont thing putting a trex500 fuse on your king makes it a 500.

Did you really get the 500? if so, then the last bastion of esky die hards has finally fallen. I wonder if they have someone who watches these forums, who is right now sounding the alarm across honk kong, screaming "the sky is falling, the sky is falling"

Would that be Woodinville?

Yes, I really got a T500. I put the canopy on my HBK2 for a comedy shot. I guess my humor somehow got lost. Anyway, the T500 move was not taken lightly and included keeping my HBK2 airworthy for the backyard. I don't expect to fly the T500 in backyard, so I still the HBK2 to fill in until I can get a 450. After the T500 purchase, I expect the HBK2 to have a long life healthly life while I wait for the heli budget to recover.

Nice. I finally saw one of those 500 sized helis in person a couple weeks ago. I always thought it would be just a tiny bit bigger than a 450, but they are actually quite substantially bigger.

I just got back from Fla. Visiting my son

While I was there, the wind (courtesy of Ike) kept me from flying for the whole trip except for a 2 minute flight to show li'l man Daddy's toy.

I also visited GravesRC. It was my first up close and personal with a heli bigger than a 450.

They had fully assembled 30s, 50s, 90s, T500s and a T600CF.

MY GOD those 90s and the 600 were HUGE! The 600's skid pipes were literally as big as the 450's tail boom. And the 500 is WAY bigger than a 450.

Kinda made me feel...inadequate . My helis needs Levitra...Smilin' Rex...

The more they overthink the plumbing, the easier it is to stop up the drain.

The thing that gets me about the bigger helis is not the 3ft long boom or the gallon sized canopy, it is the huge blades. Man 620mm blades are huge! Man 710mm blades are huge! Hell even my 425mm blades are huge!

If you can, you want to be able to charge 2 batteries at once.

Are you going 2 X 3S 2100??

I'll be running a 6s 3000mah pack. Currently only Outrage has these. But I'm hoping that PerformancePlusRC will be selling them at some point. I have the Cellpro 10s so it will only charge 1 6s pack at a time. But it can safely do it at 2c or even 3c. I'm guessing that will be around 30 minutes per pack. My largest packs right now are the Outrage 3s 2200. The Cellpro charged it at 3c in 23 minutes (80%). I normally charge these packs at 2c but wanted to try it and see what the difference between 2c and 3c rates were. At 2c the charge takes between 5 and 10 minutes longer depending on the state of the pack and if I'm doing two at a time.

Mike, that link is stale.

Just to point out Greg, price wise ... 4x Mega Power 6s 2500s = 3x PPRC 6s 2500s = 2x Outrage 6s 3000s
