I had a 3.6mm lens
I used a 4.8mm lens I got out of a Creative WebCam II, it was on old LPT Webcam throw away job.
It has a small plastic lens at the CCD end I removed to get the CCD sensor closer to the lens and get proper focus.
There was 4 lenses in it from the front, 3 glass ones, a black apeture hole dicsc then a plastic lens, I removed the plastic one.
The CCD sensor in the 1/4" cam has a block of glass stuck on top so removing the plastic one out of the other lens allowed me to get it close enough to the CCD to get focus.
You can buy lenses for the camera you get most likely, but theres nothing like recycling something and doing the job at no cost with waht you may already have around..
I just had to reduce the size of the lens housing to fit into the existing mini camera case, the old lens and its housing screwed out of the body to fit the 4.8mm lens tube which was plastic not metal like the 3.6mm lens.
For me to get another lens for the 1/4" ccd than the 3.6mm I use Id have to order it overseas.
The 4.8mm does the job, I think larger mm lens and you may not have room for the veiwfinder elactronic indicators in a tighter angle shooting through the eyepeice.
I am aiming it through a Canon EOS5 I just need to mount it to the box for that and make a few mounts for other SLR's used on it. |
