Scale Model RC Helicopters > Century Bell 47G

Hi all, I just got my Bell 47G assembled. I'm wondering if someone else has the same kit. It looks like they stretched a .30 size machine. It calls for the .50. It has 600mm blades. This would have been a much better looking machine as a .30 size. I had a .50 size Hughes 500 and it was much bigger

Hi

Probably the size Century scaled it at, the full scale Bell 47 is noticeably smaller than other machines, if your 500 and the Bell were the same scale, then it would appear smaller.

I'm sure it can be used either way, 30 or 50 with a few mods.

That did cross my mind. As with airplanes, a 1/4 scale Corsair is much larger than a 1/4 scale Edge 540. Just like the full scales. I wish this kit was available with 550mm blades shorter tail and 30. size engine. I think it would look more to scale. I'm sure once I get it in the air, I won't have any complaints.

martin briggs from martin briggs models in the uk flew his century 47 with an os32, i even saw him loop it so it isn't lacking in power
i think you would need the hawk 30 gearing and engine mount if you want to put a 30 motor in it

lee hows the vario 47 coming along?

I'm sure the .32 is enough. That's why I can't figure why Century set it up as a .50 It would be much cheaper if I go with the .50 just because it is already set up.

I run mine with an OS 32, all i had to change was the engine bracket, the gearing is standard, it flys great

I'm using the OS 46 engine for the last three years and it flys nice.

OK, What could possibly happen if I ran 550mm blades with the .37 Is the tail going to be "hotter" I never tried this as the tail will be excessively long. And will I have to run 85mm tail blades? HHHMMMM
That's what makes this hobby so interesting. The machine is only as smart as you!

Has anyone done an electric conversion for this Century Bell 47G?
Or is there any readily available motor mount in the market for it?
