I'd wager a dremel with a polishing attachment & a fine polishing compound.

I can say my combination works very well for getting varnish, melted plastic, and other buildup off of a muffler or anything else shiny, and also shines up the metal quite nicely.

I'll have to say YS spends alot more time inside these engines and less time on the casting. The carb in itself is awesome . Great machine work there. OS castings in my opinion tho are much nicer .And alot easier to buff and polish .

i believe that the castings are a little on the rough/worn side simply because they have been using the same die cast molds for the 60 size, 80 size, and the 90 size engines. while OS makes a new damn die each time they bring out a new motor. or so it seems. you have the same mold pumping out a LOT more parts for a lot longer. A great way to keep costs down.
