I was heavy into nitros for several years. Got burnt ouy and have been out of the hobby for 3 years, but have had a few electric planes that I fly in my big front yard. I want an electric heli now, one thet I can grow on, loops, rolls and inverted.....what would be a good quality one for me to start back up with. Last I heard, a few years ago the T-Rex was the top dog, but I am sure there are many more on the market now. Thanks!!!!

The T-Rex is very common. I have both a 450SA and a 450SE V1. There is a V2 of the SE out now too. Nice machines. I also have an original Thunder Tiger Mini Titan. Also a 450-sized machine, it is also very nice and also available as a SE version. All of them will 3D very nicely, but my impression is that the Mini Titan is more stable than the T-Rex, as the hover "feels" very locked in.

There are several other nice machines out there, and I'm sure other people will pop in with their favorites.

Take a look at the beam. I've been flying beam and Trex in comparison and I have to say, my beam is my favorite one!

I had the same scenario as you, flew nitros, got burnt, got out, back in now. I bought an outrage g5 which is a 450 class heli with slightly longer blades and boom. After flying nitros, I wish I would have gotten a 500 class (trex, protos, sjm, etc.) These 450 things are just too small compared to what I was used to. My g5 fly's nicely, but I just wish it was bigger. It doesn't handle breezes as well, it's a bit&* to fit all the elec. gear into, it's just ok stability wise and won't auto worth a crap(compared to a 50 or a 90). The more I fly it, the more I think about buying a 500...

Nothing is ever so bad that it can't get worse

pick up a 500, after flying nitros, i believe you would be happier with the bigger bird. 450 is lots of fun. but for a little more cash, you get a faster machine.

ten grand in helis and all i can do is hover

500 if you are into 3d or an E550 or Gaui 550 if you are into sport flying.
size is your friend.

If not I have a Trex 450 SE for sale =D

Hivoltage, Just that same as you but I didn't even fly my foamy during the time away.

I have a ATOM on the way and from talking to a few people on the phone and reading about it I think I can't go wrong with it.

Check out the Compass website http://www.compassmodel.com/ and call Bobby at WWW.RREMODELS.COM

I would just echo the above. Especially since you flew nitro. A 500 sized machine will fly big, but still workable in a smaller space, still plug and play, loads of power, and will do anything you ask.
