does anyone think it would be possible to put a 20 cc motor in a raptor 50? the link below is to the engine that i was looking at. would it work and what else would have to change on the raptor to make this work? any advice is appreciated! thanks everyone.

i want to try it on a 50. the motor say that it will bottle on to .60 to .90, so i think it will work.

so whats a little bit bigger engine going to hurt then? what i want to know is if the gearing would have to change due to the lower rpm of a gasser and the large size of the engine

gearing will be a major issue as you only have the 30,50 and titan pinion's to play with, thats if the clutch will take the torque from the gasser motor
the other major issue is the engine fitting into the frames

thats true. i can build a custom engine mount so not to worried about that. but i didnt think about the clutch. i think it would hold for awhile. a clutch a month more then likely. that would get expensive fast.

I think that as long as the cluch holds, it has the same wear and even less, since the RPM is reduced. if it slips, then it's a whole different story.

50 Gasser

Go for it,i expect you can get over most problems. The main thing is if the engine will fit between the frames.I think a good 50 produces similar power to a 20,but running costs are a lot lower on the gas motor.

I believe this was already done with TREX 600 parts, wasn't it?

50 Gasser

Yes has been done with a 600.I expect a lot of the bigger raptor parts could be used to modify gearing ect. Most of the fun is in working it all out.A lot of people on here could advise on clutch hub,fan and shroud to use ect.

50 Gasser

You can cross compare heli parts if you look on Midland heli,s web site as they show plans for most of the Raptors. Will give you an insight into what parts you might be able to use.
