I'm surprised

I am running the Hyper 50 here in CO with all kinds of extra power. Prior to getting a governor on it I ran it less that 80% to keep the headspeed under control. Now the governor manages it fine, but i have all the power I need here at 5000 feet above sea level.

Properly tuned Hyper on 30% with an MP5 is a beast. I run 17,500 RPM and 110c on the head with CarbSmart (somewhere around 1.25 turns on main at mid range of the CS unit. Running +/- 13 degrees collective on Kasama heads and it pulls super hard.

How many flights do you have on the Hyper (i.e. how may tanks of fuel/gallons of fuel have you flown through it)? If it's not much, is the engine tuned properly? Maybe it's too rich or too lean? Either can rob the engine of power. If the engine is well used, the piston ring may be worn and need to be replaced. Just a couple things to consider.

I never finish anythi

Dont make sense? 1.5 turns out with the cam level to the skids,so it idles nice, run a couple gallons through it so the back plate is nice and warm after flights. You should have a well broken in motor that will provide all the power you can handle!
If problems persist, send it into O.S. under warranty before you start disassembling the engine and void the warranty!O.S. are fantastic to deal with under warranty,9 out of 10 times they will send you a new motor.

Depends alot on the headspeed too I suppose. I run a gov on mine and limit headspeed to about 1900 or so because its the plastic head (titan). Mine isn't lean or too rich but I still consider it a dog when I fly it compared to the 600n. I suppose I have more weight on the raptor and that coupled with the fact that I run more hs on the 600 gives it that feel.

Just to be clear, is power your problem or lack of pitch? You can make tons of power but seem slow if your not getting a good bite of air. Is the engine bogging? if so possibly too much pitch.
That engine/pipe combo is plenty strong if its running right.

im running 11 and 11 with rotortech blades,i had v blades on it and they were no better.it does bog if you punch all 11 but i think i manage my collective pretty well.i just feel it should have more punch than what it does.

Pitch is pitch on 600 blades at reasonably comparable rpm and gear ratios. If your align pulls more pitch without bogging then swap the engines.

Here's a link to a R50 and redline engine pulling 14/14 or so at 2200. (See mixer mod topic.)This should give an idea of what the machine potential is or what you can expect.

ok so what can I safely spin my HEAD at. I have maverick metal head, rotor tech blades and stock gearing.i think its spinning around 2000 just by ear. I have a throttle jockey pro and it doesn't seem to be letting my headspeed increase any when I go up on atv.
