Radio - JR & Spektrum DSM > AR7100R and DSM8 module in 9C

Hi All,

Got a curly one that I can't find the answer to and am not too sure of the way I have my AR7100R and 9C setup. It's to do with the Rev limiter channel - Channel 5 on the 9C which is the gear channel on the Spektrum. The problem is that the Gyro sense from the 9C is on channel 5.
For the gurus out there can I move the rev limiter channel to Ch7 (Fut) which is the Aux2 ch (Spektrum)? I would then need to adjust the end points for Ch7 to control the RPM.

Is this possible or as far as we know does it have to use the dedicated sensor port on the AR7100R?

Any help would be appreciated.

Cheers

Rob

I would have to check my radio at home, but I'm fairly certain you can move the gyro to channel 7 or 8 inside the 9C. You may have to do so in the advanced menu, been a little while since I've even thought about it. That would leave channel 5 for the governor/limiter gain.

Thanks,

I redid the calibration on the limiter and found that with the rev limiter on Ch7 it did not work i.e. it was still on Ch5. So what this means that if I was to fly, the rev limiter would be controlling the gyro gain! Not a good situation to be in. I will have to RTFM again and work out how to use the AVCS/Gyro gain menu on Ch7.

BTW, I have not found any Futaba to Spektrum conversion and have been using the guide in the back of the Spektrum manual.

I'll keep updating as I'm sure that there will be more people using a Futaba Tx with a Spektrum module and the AR7100R in the future.

Cheers,

Rob

Did you ever find an answer to this? I just bought an AR7100R and can't figure out how to use it with my 9C.

I just pulled my 9CHP out and went through all the menus... Looks like you can not move the gov to any channel except between 7 and 8. I think this may be something that Horizon will have to address.

No never did work it out. With Futaba you cannot move the 'gyro' gain control to another channel nor can you move the 'sense' from the Spektrum. The only way is to use the ATV adjustments for the channel that the gyro is plugged into.

I've left my rev limit sense disconnected and am using the gyro menu, bit of a shame as I think neither party will change their setup to suit the other.

Cheers.

I may have it figured out. I am using a logictec 6100 and I plugged the gyro into channel 7 and tried to adjust the gyro with the travel limit but it wouldn't do anything. Then I remembered that it has a setting for what brand of receiver you are using. I changed it from Futaba to JR and now it works. I am using the travel limit on channel 5 for the revlimit control. I will have to wait till tomorrow to see if it works.

I flew it for a short flight this morning and it seems to be working fine. I need to mess with the governor settings some but it seemed to be smoother than the revmax I had on it before.
