Thunder Tiger Raptors 30-90 - Imperio > Stock Raptor 30 blade question

OK, this is pretty silly but I have to ask to learn. I bought the Raptor 30 crash kit and I have to use the blades now. They are wrapped in clear plastic and then the black blade grips are attached. Should the plastic be removed prior to use / balancing or should it stay on? Also, when I balance the blades, I should remove the black grips, right? Thanks.

No No No!!! keep the clear covering on ! You want to keep the grips on to balance the blades, but be sure to follow the blade grip modification and epoxy the grips before flight, this is very important.

Don't forget to take just the covering under the black plastic blade piece. You have to trim around it with a exacto and use CA so the blade does not come apart. That is the perpose of the black plastic piece.

This is not a problem for me since I use sab 550 blades on my 30. NO balencing or anything, just bolt and fly. They are also better for autos and flying.

You have to balence the blades the way you would fly them.

You probably should also re-shrink the covering before you do any of the other steps. Mine was very loose on both sets I have done. Unfortunately, I discovered it was loose on the first set after I had balanced the blades. The problem with that was after shrinking it, the area around the tracking tape I used to balance them with didn't shrink exactly right. They fly ok, but the set that was in my crash kit I shrunk before I did anything else to them. They turned out better than the first set.
Also, they supply 5 minutes epoxy with the blades, and although it is nice that they do this, I find 5 minutes is not enough time to mix it, apply it neatly to the blades, re-attach the holders, put in the screws, wipe off the excess, etc. What I did with my second set was to use 30 minute epoxy. You will have much more time, and can do a better, neater job with it.
One more thing - don't forget to squeeze out the excess glue by squeezing the ends of the holders where the blades attach to the head. My first set I didn't think about this ,and had to sand a small amount from the top and bottom of the holders to make the fit not so tight in the holder itself.
These are just my findings from doing this a few times, others may have other opinion or tips on what to do. The important thing is to glue them per the instructions to make them safe.
