A turn off when I read the forum

More info than needed...surely we dont want to know what turns you on!

Personal experience = what, when, where, how and why you did it.

Which usually ends with a did or did not work.

Present profile is optional to me as all references are made in the "past".

But it sure helps when answering specific questions at times.

If I plan to befriend few here with plans to defraud, would I let my location known?
Hell no!

If I enjoy a little cyberbullying, would I let my location known? Hell no!

If I enjoy a little trolling, would I let my location known?
Hell no!

But, honestly, to fill or not fill should be up to each individual.

You haven't tuned too many engines before, have you?

I've flown the same helicopter with the exact same engine and pipe, using the exact same fuel...

at 10 above sea level to 2500 feet above sea level.
In temperatures from 8*F to 108*F
In both the driest and most humid of weather conditions.
From Florida to Mississippi to the Carolinas to Virginia to the New England states such as Connecticut and Maine, to Wisconsin to Washington and Oregon and places in between.

...And you're still only talking about a click or 2 or maybe 3

I've done plenty of nitro tuning, and a 2-5 hour change is normal on the SAME DAY in the SAME PLACE, due to changing weather conditions.

2-3 clicks is the only change required for vast altitude and temperature changes? If that's your opinion, you may want to re-think the first statement of your post.

Yep, unless you are a wimpy troll who can't man up and stand behind your statements, you should have your location listed.

What are you afraid of? Flaming someone and then having that fellow track you down?

You should act as though you are in the same room with the person you are replying to in the threads.

We all know the wimpy flamers like to hide behind their internet anonymity and go hog wild. It's pretty much the weakest passive/aggressive thing they can pull off.

9 times out of 10 these folks wouldn't have the balls to talk to someone in person like that.

Natural Selection normally takes place immediately afterwards.

The RC Model Helicopter industry is a _Serious_ Gawddamn Business.

I knew you'd search for that picture and attach your usual condescending attitude to it.

Ever hear of an air leak?

Doesn't change that fact that your post is misleading.

Why is my post misleading? Something you don't understand you need explained a little better?
Are you trying to discredit my post that I based off my own personal experience? Why?

Let me please explain this first, please. My post, as I quoted "TJinGuy", the topic starter, was a reply to him.

I made an educated guess based on 2 things.
1) His fleet of small electric helis that he lists on his profile
2) One of his first posts on RR, that said,
Quote

Being new to ... well ... everything that is RC and flies

With that information, I think I can safely assume that TJinGuy has little to no experience tuning a nitro engine. ---And thats OK!

The point I wish to make to the guy, is that climate and where in the country the guy is... It don't make a big bit of difference.

Tuning an engine based on what So&So said his needle settings were last Tuesday is retarded.
Tuning MY OWN engine for Today, and 11:12 Central seems to make a lot more sense to me.
Afterall, So&So's needle settings may not work so well for me. (Since that was last Tuesday)

Well, "How about a good starting point for some needle settings?"

The answer to that, is in the manual!

I agree...update your profile, at least to help people in your area find help....If they wanted to rob you or whatever they would just hang out at the field and follow you home...people need to quit being paranoid. Oh No the sky is falling...better never leave the house.

What does me having very little nitro tuning experience have anything to do about you not having your profile location filled in? I made that nitro tuning statement because I have read posts where the helpers asked about the temp and such when trying to help someone with a nitro engine. That's it! That's all! No need to take my post and twist it into a nitro tuning argument. Make a new post for that if you like.

Want to swap things around a bit? How about not knowing that a guy lives in southern Arizona and trying to help him figure out why his LiPos are puffing when he flies? It is handy to know that info when trying to help him. Better yet it allows for better, more accurate advice.

I just wanted to point out that I like to see a proper location when I read the forum, and I am apparently not the only one.

Elitist "You're stupid" attitude, as usual... Most people get sick of it, including myself.

Nope, I'm trying to discredit it based on MY experience, being the adjustment range you specified is utilized on one day in the same place due to changing weather conditions.

I'm not crapping on the thread anymore.

Then what to you suggest, big guy? Everyone start tuning their engines by cranking on their needle valves a half turn at a time?

I gather that you think 2-3 clicks is insignificant. News for ya guy, 2-3 clicks can be the difference between a a finely tuned engine and a cooked engine!

If you start telling guys to tune their their engine by a half turn this way or a quarter turn that way just because he lives in texas or wherever, you're not helping him one bit.

I really wish we used real names instead of "handles". For example JAGNZ is easy enough to decipher as Jason signs his real name and he is in NZ, but if everybody used their real names I believe it would engender more politeness and fewer flame wars, but that's just my 2¢.

I like to see a full profile so i can see if they are full of $hit when discussing topics. Like are they actually running the gear currently that they are commenting against.

I personally don't care if someone puts something funny down in the their profile. makes for a laugh at times and still often gives a clue as to their whereabouts etc. Like you have just looked at my profile....yes I am below 42. Thats 42 degrees south for those that don't know there are other parts of the world. There isn't a hell of a lot of places below 42 south! Well I am in New Zealand and no....we are not part of Australia.

I often look at peoples profiles to make an assumption on who you may be talking to on either PM's....topics...or even arguing with on the forums. Helps to determine if you are bothering with someone that may know something or a complete newbie that flies a blade CP and is commenting on the virtues of 90 or 50 size heli's etc.

It's natural to want to know about who you are talking to. It also personalises it and may help with folks not being so aggressive toward each other.
