I am doing some searching before I purchase my first electric helicopter I am looking at the Align Trex 500 because my brother had a 450 and 600 and they are both great helicopters. I am also looking at a logo just because they seem to be real light and strong so any options in that size class would be great. Thanks for any advice

No experience of either heli, but go with what you can get spares in good supply for, is a usual caveat.

Just needing TWO packs for each flight would drive me away from a Trex 500.

I have a 450SE V2 and love it.

I don't own one, but I fly with a guy that has a Logo and I think it's pretty nice. I'd love to own one myself. Very smooth and it has proven to be quite tough as well. My experiances with Align leave a bad taste in my mouth.... I haven't seen a 500, but not interested at this point.

That was my point.
6S = 2X 3S. Twice the cost of flying a 450 (more in fact from your 3000MAh example).

The 500 size heli is a great bird. Inital cost is not much more than a 450 and parts are reasonable. Its still pretty portable, yet fly's big. Loads of of power, perspective is good, and they are very stable. Fly's on a variety of battery power options as well.

Magic are you talking about the trex 500. The cost of the 450 is about the same and the batteries from 4s to 6s is not a big deal so I am thinking the rex 500 because it seems to have alot of aftermarket support.

what kind of motor are you guys using in it. I like the scorpion motors I had one on my plane tons of power and light so I was just wondering if many people run those.

6 cell batts are one pack.

Here is what I meant:

With the cost of buying ONE 6S pack for a 500, I can buy TWO 3S packs for the 450. In fact I'll save, because it seems you guys are flying the 500 with 3000MAh?

And the 450's 3S is more flexible, too. By using 3S in a 450 as opposed to 6S in a 500, a same 6-cell budget will buy more flights per flying day, since one 3S pack will be flying while the other may be charging, instead of having a whole 6-cell pack either charging or flying at any one time.

I think this cleared it up now.

other than the battery cost, the 500 is a much better option. i own the 500, trex 450, trex 600n, blade 400. build and crash cost of the 500 is about 5-10% higher than the 400 and 450, and 30-50% lower than the 600. the 500 is much more durable, powerful, and easier to see in the sky, as well as being more stable. on a cost basis alone, the 500 is the most logical option. if there is no parts support locally, there are many websites that offer parts in great supply. most orders recieved in 4-5 days with free shipping. JMHO.

500 is a good all around heli. Not too big not too small. Flies great and has a lot of power too.

I think that is what I will go with. It seems from everything I see to be a great all around heli. I have only been flying for about 25 flights so I wont be pushing it and when I get ready to I will be able to do the 3d with it so that is what I am going to go with. What motor do most of you suggest I want to run a 3d setup so when I get ready to do 3d flight i wont have to redo the motor and everything.

Trex500 or Logo

Just look at the replacement costs, one example is the swash plate, look at Logo price(MY GOD) as compared to the trex cost(NOT BAD). I do all training on the Trex500 and when i'm good at a new move, i then fly the logo.

I don't think you will be disappointed with the stock motor and esc set-up, especially being new. I am still relatively new myself and can't fly it to it's full potential, but the stock set-up now has more than enough power and more than enough for 3D. Just go stock, it's cheaper and more accessible.

good point on the logo. The Rex I am getting comes with nothing no motor or anything so i figured I would go all out 3d capable.
