Does anyone know about the ESC. I have had the motor spool down after a 1-2 min flight. I can shut the power down, wait a short amount of time and, it flies ok, but the issue comes up again. I am suspecting the stock ESC. Any ideas?

could be esc

How long have you had it? Just curious as to the possible wear of the equipment! It also could be a low voltage cutoff situation but that would mean something could be a foul with you battery. Could also be a loose connection in your plugs either the esc or battery or both, maybe you get a loose connection after you get spooled up. I have had both happen at different times.

Start with checking for any loose connections

See if you can test your battery

The cheap solution is to send back your esc and battery to Horizon Hobby to have them check it out if you are not able to figure it out.
I have had very good experience this year with sending stuff back and them taking care of it with little or no charge except for shipping to them. If your able you can buy a new esc just to rule that out snd still send yours off so you can end up with an extra.

Hope this is helpful!

Is your ESC hot when these happens?

Sounds like what happened to mine when it gets hot! After a few back to back flies in hot days. I solved my problem by relocating it to the side of the frame so it gets more air and stays cooler!

esc

thanks for the advise it seems to correlate to what e flite said. I spoke with e flite this morning and they seem to say the same thing, the ESC is getting too hot. They did not have the technical data on the unit. They seem to be very helpful though. I will try relocating the ESC for better airflow.

I have had the bird for less than a week (got it on 8-28) brand new. I just moved up from a cp pro, and fine tuning my tail in hover.

thanks for your suggestions, will be back to let ya know the progress.

What did you find out?
I ask because I just had the same issue I think. After about 3.5 minutes the motor spooled down quickly enough to be called a near autorotation. At first I thought I must not have had a full charge on the batt. but I only put 1100 back in it when I recharged. Tried it again and same results. This time I tried lifting off again. Got about 5' in the air and it began slowing down again.

Mine died after the 3rd pack while hovering. I put in an Align 35A and it's been fine since. No BEC needed.

This one got a little bit more burnt than mine...

Honestly, with a new BEC, new GY401, new servos, I should have just bought a barebones T-rex. But now it flies great and I'm too deep into the spare parts stash to give up now

yup

Same here, i have replaced 2 servos, and esc. The main gear is not the greatest either. After getting the micro heli upgrades (some), i should have gotten a t-rex v2 but, at least now the bird flies well, and i did get the specktrum 6xi with it. I also put a trex canopy on it (now it's a blade-rex or t-blade 400) . I think i should have gotten a trex 500, why not LOL, but i can learn with this one.

oh I'm not giving up. Just the opposite, I insist on punishing myself to finally learn to fly helis. I think I have "rotary dislexia" or just really dumb thumbs.
I'll go down the basement and take a pic of all the broken heli parts I have. Seems like after $2500 and a few years I finally learned to hover with the B400

here's a pic with a couple helis in it before they turned to pieces.
Now that I hacve a SMALL amount of confidence in flying, I'll start the rebuilding.

I think I have a battery problem though. Just got back, the ESC NEVER got hot. It was cool to the touch. The battery on the other hand is quite warm, in fact hot. Going to get ahold of Eflite and see what they have to say about this.
