is there any side affect such as range reduce or glitch when enclose a 2.4ghz receiver in a full fiber glass canopy?

as I recalled 72mhz receiver enclosed in fiberglass canopy got suffer from signal lost or reduce range or even glitch if antenna touch any part of the carbon frame.

It was in the air, but now it's on the ground. :)

Fiberglass or Carbon Fiber?

You mention both in your post, and the answer is different.

Then you should be OK.
Fiberglass it almost transparent to radio trasmission.

thanks Chris.

I'm switching from 72mhz to 2.4 just want to make sure as the antenna is fully enclosed in the canopy instead of exposed outside like the 72mhz.

that should take the worry out of me

Glassfibre canopy is just fine.
Most commercial comms antennas are enclosed in glasfibre
Carbonfibre, now THERE would be a problem, absorbs microwaves like a sponge, go find pictures of the B2 that got planted on Guam a while back, can you spell "stealth"

O, go look at the sticker on the back of your microwave oven, the one that states frequency........

The canopies too?
Maybe the proximity of the TX bounces the signal around the frame enough to get a signal in.
But considering that carbon fibre is electrically conductive, that really isn't a chance I will take.
I've just put an Ohm meter on the boom supports on my HDX 500, over the full length it only measures 12 Ohms.
Carbon fibre really is a graphite form of carbon, and in the microwave frequency range, graphite is often used as an absorber of stray RF.
Just look on the back of your TV tube, and the inside of some high end electronic devices.

As an aside, many of the black frames are actually G10 fibreglass board, you can prove it by measuring the resistance, just firmly push the ohm meter probes onto the surface to pierce the gelcote

I dont have 2.4 gig but I have only read about problems with it in carbon fibre gliders.

I also have some contact with the full size glider guys, and on the newest carbon fibre fuzz ships, they have to mount the airband and GPS antennas outside the body..........

Though, most of them have the GPS antenna under the plexiglass.
And just a bit of info, one of them also is a 747 driver, and his handheld GPS don't work inside the cockpit, due to the thin layer of metalisation inside the windscreen, I think they use gold ?
