After a crash one of the first things you should ask is what happened? What did you learn? What can you do or not do to prevent that from happening again. Realise that if your pushing your capabilities a crash can happen. A lot of craches are on the last flight of the day. If you've have had a good flying day, 2, 3, 8 or whatever flights, don't do the last flight. Pack up your stuff and take home a flyable helicopter.

Good Luck,
-LL

Stack a Stratus up and see if you get upset . Does it suck , hell yeah ,will I quit , hell no ,is it expensive ,hell yeah . If a 150 crash go you upset fix what you have and sell it because it's only going to get worse .

You're not flyin if you're no crashin .

Yeah I lost my tail (low torque bolt must have been cracked) during piro flips on my stratus last week. I can barely do the move, flying out it with a flight failure was about the lowest chance I had for a save.

It's going to be about 500 bucks (125Canopy, 125Blades, 100Battery, Battery Tray, misc small stuff). Whats worse is I have to dump 1500 on my pets over the next month. Gotta keep them tuned up as well.

Will I quit? Fack no, but looks like a punt for now.

DUDE! The reason the kids do so well is they probably didn't buy it!

The less I care if I crash, the better I fly. Have fun! I have taken my 500 booms and started to make a wind chime! NO JOKE!!!

Just need a couple more to complete it. I am turning my blades into a Plague for the super pilot I hope to become. I can see it's going to be a HUGE WALL PLAQUE! LOL

Its hard to lose a good set up but you will become a better builder too See there is something to be said for crashing.

Happy flying! Steve

The dust has settled, things aren't so bad

I had a quick look at the heli last night for the first time after the crash and found it's not as bad as I thought.

-the head button screw is bent (thanks Old Guy ) , BUT NOT THE MAIN SHAFT! YES!
-the canopy just needs a trim by the links and it'll be good as new (was always a bit tight there which is why it got nicked I guess)
-I'm not sure, but the feathering shaft appears fine. Any way to check it without pulling and rolling on glass?

Sooooo, if I'm right, here's the updated carnage list:

-Landing Gear $7
-Main Blades $75 (should I cheap out with a $50 set for now?)
-1x 9650 gear set $6
-Canopy trim $0
-feathering shaft. Not sure if I need it
-head button - be gone! (looks pretty but can cause probs in a crash so I'm removing it)

$88 - not that bad at all, I thought it was worse

Will try and work on it tonight and see if I missed anything

Be on the safe side. Replace the main shaft + feathering

It can look to be good; but My experiance is that when you go to spool it up there will be a new vibration. If you flt it, like someone says on here; "FLY IT LIKE YOU STOLE IT!"

[quote]there will be a new vibration

Then again, maybe not, mine was ok in a "rough landing".

My worst crash that I had was when a no-see'em was eating away on my legs crashing my heli in stunt mode1 landing to fast to kill it because it was annoying. I was pissed because it was the dumbest crash I've done.

I have taken my 500 booms and started to make a wind chime! ---> That's a good one! You have just given me an idea on what to do with all the booms I have damaged!

We all do it

Just because you crashed once doesn't make you any better or worse of a flyer than anyone else. We all dumb thumb it once in a while. At least you are pushing your skills and that makes you better. Crashing is tough on the ego for all of us. Next time might be better or worse but keep trying

thats whats so great about the 500, cheap repairs. i did the same thing sunday, after scuffing the boom so it wouldnt slide out, tried my first flip (im still a newbie), came out of it backwards, lost orientation, and put it in the dirt. $65 later, when my main gear gets here, it will be in the air again. gotta love that. fix, fly, crash, repeat.

ten grand in helis and all i can do is hover

What ya'll think? LOL

Gotta love the Stupid thumbs or we could never get the smart ones.

no but you could drill some holes in them and make flutes.
