Thunder Tiger Raptors 30-90 - Imperio > R 60 Main Shaft - can't get locking ring in??

Am I missing something stupid here? I am putting the main shaft in my Rap 60. Through the top bearing, through the stop ring, through the main gear sub assy. Then I line up the Jesus bolt (careful not to over tighten) in the red tail drive gear, and everything looks OK. But when I go to screw the stop ring in I am about three mm off. Holes on the main shaft are too high (close to the top bearing). I measured to make sure the short end of the shaft is down, it is too close to be reversed. The red tail drive gear matches good with the tail drive subassy. Is it possible to have the top bearing installed the wrong way??? I noticed on the instructions, the bottom bearing is to be installed upside down. To me that means oposite the top bearing, so the recess area between the bearing and the bearing block is towards the O/S of the heli (top to top and bottom to bottom). Is this right? Best I can tell that is what the picture looks like. If the top bearing were reversed would it allow the stop ring to go up a little farther into the recess and then the screw holes match???

Thanks

Main Gear upside down

Thanks to Chris Coker for the help today - the main gear (grey one) was upside down causing the problem. The picture in the book does not show the sholder for the bolts that hold the autorotate bearing in place. Instead they show washers that are not in the kit...

Hi,

I am going by memory since I dont have either the r60 or instructions here but the flat side of the top block faces down and the flat side of the lower block faces up (Basically the flat sides face the drive gear. I do remember the instructions show it vary clearly though.

The original lower tail drive gear (on the main shaft) had 4 holes in them, 2 where in the rite spot and 2 had stickers over them and where drilled in the wrong spot. I can't remember if it pushes the main shaft up or down if you use the wrong holes but its worth checking into.

The lower main shaft bearing block is adjustable so you can take all the endplay out of the main shaft, loosen the bolts up down below.
