I have to change the rotorhead cause it got some slack on the mast for some reason, and im about to switch over the blade grips and grips mast to the new head, but i noticed the hexagon screws that holds the grips in each end are full of grease and not locktite, is that correct and suppose to be like this?

I assume they are going to be greased since its already there from the factory, but im asking to be on the safe side...

Thx!

the bolt has to go through the thrust bearings before it gets to the spindle, so it is probabably picking up grease from there. locktite the bolts, definitely.

Sounds reasonable, but will not the grease disolve the locktite?

Must i wash out properly with degreaser first, or?
I noticed it when i losen the first screw so it must have been like this from the beginning, but they weren't loose at all...

Anyway, a little locktite is better than nothing despite the grease i guess

clean the bolt with alcohol to remove the machining oils. the thrust bearings should be greased, but not to the point where it is coming out everywhere. a small bit of locktite on the end is all that is needed. you can even apply the locktite to the spindle if that is easier. centrifical force will keep the grease naturally away from the locktite. you will see the grease on your blades, though...

Hey Stop! Clean the threads for the nut to go onto with a cotton swab sprayed with an Electronics Cleaner or a Brake Cleaner.
The Loctite will not work with grease or oils products on the threads.

The thing that gets everybody from housewives trying to glue broken china back together to guys putting mirrors back up on there windshields is that they do not have the surface clean for the glue to work.
When you are glueing you need to have zero contaminents on the surfaces to be glued for it to work.
You have to have bare metal surfaces for the loctite.
Many degreasers, solvents leave a residue, (that includes alcohol and acetones despite what many people think.)
The Electronic Cleaners and Brake Cleaners are ones that do not leave residues.
(Trichloflouroethene 113 doesn't leave a residue either but it is generally illegal now!)

no problem...the adhesives always seem to stick when you use them, but most often people are just glueing to a residue of some kind and yes they do stick at first, but they eventually come apart.
