What do You think we will we be seeing in this hobby in another 3-5 years??

-More 50 class helis or 90 class?

-More RTF type helis? with easy to set up systems like TTs new one.

-More powerful motors?

"active head control" will be standard, and no longer called "virtual flybar," any more than your gyro is now called "solid state" gyro.

Don't know if I'd trust something assembled by any one else but me. Too Risky.

Yep, give it 5-10 years. I'll be right there beside you getting some.

The writing is already on the wall!
CC's and 90's Nitro's...
I am looking forward to the monster CC Big Block type nitros!

The hardest bad boy flying pilots in the R/C Helicopter industry right now are looking for one thing only, MORE POWER!!

Rumors are leaking out of 100cc PLUS displacements....

5 years from now...

...I see a PC interface where you may program or review your models on a graphical interface in your PC or notebook. With this you would also have an unlimited number of models and download a number of them to the radio at a time. Tx-PC connection could be direct USB, or wireless by a dedicated, Rx/USB interface. Going a step further, the PC USB module could also transmit the setups directly to the Rx, so you could dial in your settings, real time, from the PC graphical interface and see the Rx acting on them.

Flybarless helis are the next hit for sure. Some manufacturers that already supply ESCs in their kits, as Align, will also provide the stability systems for those helis.

Gassers are a big question mark. They are increasingly popular, but increasing oil prices may turn this around. Electrics will be (are already!) everywhere. If new battery technology can squeeze higher MAhs (not necessarily more Cs) for longer duration, electrics will very seriously challenge nitro, specially if their cost is not as prohibitive as current Lipos.

Ok, Crystal Ball OFF.

Electric Power Source
---------------------
In 2-3 years a new battery chemistry will be developed and introduced into the RC Heli world. Todays 22.2v 6s10 5000mah lipo packs will be in the future the size of a 2s1p lipo pack today, it will cost about $100, and give you insane power for 10mins for hardcore 3d, and can be charged back up in 20minutes.

Can I get a hell yeah?

Nitro
--------------------
In 3 years fools are paying $100/gal for 30% nitro.

Redefine the "All-in-One" concept
---------------------------------
Imagine a Rx,Bec,Glowplug ignitor,Gyro,"Active Head Control" in one.

Blades
---------------------
V-blades will still cost you over $120/pair.

RC Heli
---------------
-In 3 years, Align releases the "Innovator 450se Scientist" to regain market share from Thunder Tiger.

Almost all will be electric and almost all will be flybarless. Some may disagree, I however think it is becoming obvious more every day.

I disagree. I think that electrics had their shot and blew it. Technology did not come fast enough and more importantly the price didn't come down enough.

I think if either one of those two things would have happened, more people would have got onboard and then and only then would you have seen the electric side really take off. The problem was not enough people jumped onboard so the $$$$ was not there for the manufacturers to justify the R&D in the performance arena. Plus, the “volume” was not there for the manufacturers to make enough of a profit to bring the pricing down based on high volume.

JMHO!
