Well it's here...

BELOW: The new upper rotator locking mechanism. Allows for 15° rotation increments. With the positive locking mechanism the NN5 will support as much as 22 lbs. You can engage or disengage the lock.

Nice product shots there Noobs. I take it you have a studio a decent white backdrop and diffusers on your lights. You should see if Nodal Ninja want to buy them .

I'm using the same NN5. It's larger and a great deal more solid than the old NN3. Also the new rotator base is so much better than the old rotator bolt/screw setup!

The new NN3 MKII is just as solid. It has a new rotator so the tigthening knob no longer comes loose. There is a rotator upgrade that is available for the older NN3s.

djdaveq

It's a panoramic head for taking ground panos. Have a look here for an intro.

Yep, I purchased the upgrade and the camera stops for my NN3. Much nicer.

Thanks everyone.

Cedar yes the NN3 has gone through a lot of improvements and will continue to do so. That's the great thing about Nick. He's always open to suggestions.

Nick is currently working on new rotators for those that demand more features. They're really nice. I would have to say a little bit better than it's counterparts.

If you have an older NN5L there will be an upgrade option to the new upper rotator locking mechanism. Unfortunately it'll be a couple of months.

We'll see what they come out with... ...stay tuned.

Thanks Noobs, I've always been a big fan of NN. I've purchased 4 pano mounts from them in the past and have never been dissapointed.

I'm looking forward to seeing those NN5 upgrades. Is it possible the next gen rotator base will be available on the NN3 as well as the NN5?

I have two old NN3's here and might wait before upgrading the rotator base.

The new rotators will be compatible to all future models of NN and may also work with other equipment.

These are not my images. These are from Nick... These are all prototypes still in development.

I love my nodal ninja 3. a little sketchy with the 5d sometimes... but I like it. I'd love a slightly bigger one, so I can keep my battery grip on while shooting panos.

Rhett... I can't fly, luckily the HC Profi Can!

The design of the NN3 is for compact cameras. So battery grips should not be used. The NN5/L can easily handle this. I normally carry a second camera and leave a dedicated camera on the pano head.

If I wasn't halfway finished my own I would buy one. $500 gets a pretty slick looking unit.

Man, I love this new rotator / leveler combo.

If you guys haven't seen it...

The new R-D3L...

I'm currently testing beta-rotators and new NN5/rotator combo is arriving for testing.

Man that thing has a lot of numbers and stuff on it. Looks complicated.

It's actually very simple...

The demarcations on top, with the 0° - 360°, tells you at what rotational degree you're shooting at.

The three switches allows you to choose on the number of "clicks" that you require.

So...

60° for 6 shots around.
45° fro 8 shots around.
36° for 10 shots around.

You simply flip the little switch to the other side to enable.

Or leave them disabled and you can manually rotate the pano head.
