You fellows that want to upgrade your 9650, try obtaining some 9257 gears for your presently owned 9650 and you too can experience the benefit of a faster servo

Can anyone confirm this? Can you really put 9257 gears in a 9650 to essentially upgrade it?

Also.. when going fast backwards will I get more tail blowouts with the lower torque 9257 or the slower 9650?

Confirmed, works fine.

I don't get blowouts with either one during fast backwards, tail slides, etc.

There is a very fine line between "hobby" and "mental illness."

I'm using s3153. It works fine. I like small size, helps with CG and overall weight. I wish it could be a bit more faster but maybe this is my perception.
I'm also using "Chinese weight" mode on a tail rotor. So this helps servo a lot.

6V regulated, and running a battery that may be over 6V(guys running a RX battery) when fully charged is a big difference, there have been many many people running servos NOT rated for 6V, on 6V regulated systems and reporting no problems.

also if you do own a 9650 and want to trade some of the torque for speed,i believe you only need to change 2 of the gears,3rd post down has a good pic

Robbe FS61BB with Spartan Gyro. The best, most locked in feeling I've had with a servo on the Trex 450.

.05 seconds at 4.8 Volts at about 1/2 the size of the 9650. Only question is the longevity of the servo but I have at least 100 flights on it so far.
