e-Align T-REX 250-450-500-600 > T-REX 450 trex 450 what tail servo are you running???

I have a trex with a gy240 and a hs65hb on the tail. I also have a swift with a gy401 and a 9254 on it. My swift tail is rock solid. (I thought my trex was till I flew the swift.) So now I want a 401 on the trex but what is everyone using for a tail servo. Do they have a quick small digital servo for the trex.

ok that raises a second question. Are you running a bec or using stock bec in the esc? As of right now I have a 3s setup and running the stock esc/bec align one. When I go to the 401 and better servo should I run a seperate bec?

Thanks ronmad02

I run a 9257 with a voltage regulator between the 401 and 9257 to bring the 6v down to 5.1v.

I run the stock esc/bec.

I see that the 9650 is a smaller servo then the 9257 . I like that. Is the speed ok I am not into 3d just ff and hover. It seems to be about the same as the hs65hb in speed.

9257. Super fast. I run mine at 6v w/separate BEC. Not recommended apparently...

Here's a high-tech setup for ya:
Telebee 6g w/ HS81 @6V (.09sec)

Sneer if you must, but it works great for non-inverted, non-3D stuff.

Pumping your fist and yelling, "COME ON!!!" does not increase battery charge rate.

Oh I see were I messed up. They are the same size. So on a 450 size heli do you need the extra torq ? Or is the speed better?

Speed is better .. I have never used the s9257, always used the s9650 on my Trex450v2. It has held the tail rock solid...

I've used the 9650, 9257, and 3400. Favorite is the 9257.

Do you have to step down the voltage from the Align stock ESC/BEC for the 9257?

This is wrong. The bec will put out 6v to the receiver (and through it to all the servos and gyro). The 9257 is not rated for 6v, so you need to use a step down regulator between the 9257 and gyro to drop the voltage. There are plenty of people running the 9257 fine without the regulator, but to go by the published specs, you need the regulator.
