Rabbit's not so bad.

The only thing bad about them is they have no protein.

Where do you get that from, that they have no protien?

The beauty of the Second Amendment is that it will not be needed until they try to take it.

Sorry ...misquoted myself

Ok...found book...dusting off.

Its from a "survival" handbook issued to my brother in law when he went to Kosovo. He ended up with two and gave me one.

It reads...

CAUTION
Rabbit meat lacks vitamins and fats essential to man. When humans eat rabbit the body uses its own minerals and vitamins to digest it. They need to be replaced. If they are not, and you keep on eating rabbit, you can literally eat yourself to death.

Of all the animals groups they listed, the rabbit is the only one with a "caution" and why I "kind of" remembered "something" about it.

Need to take my Gingko Biloba more often

Thanks to you guys, time to read it again.

In a survival situation (or any other..) I wonder if eating the liver or other organs would help get the minerals and fats needed.

Brains are very fatty, right? Maybe just mine..

Never, ever, ever, ever give up.

nothing about the brain BUT

Directly from the manual...

*********

You can use the following parts of the animal:
ENTRAILS: heart, liver and kidney can be eaten, though discard any that are discoloured.
BLOOD: a good base for soups, full of vitamins and minerals
FAT: good for making soups
SKIN: can be used as leather for clothing
TENDON and LIGAMENTS: can be used for lashings
BONE MARROW: a rich food source
BONES: can be used for making tools and weapons.

Check for lymph glands (in the cheek). IF they are large and discoloured, the animal is ill.
Animals that are distorted or discoloured about the head are diseased, their meat should be boiled thoroughly.
Cover any cut and sore in your skin when preparing deseaed animals.

So you're saying if you wanna lose weight...go on the rabbit diet?

It is not necessary to understand, or believe things in order to argue about them.
